FALL 2020 28 PAN PIPES SIGMA ALPHA IOTA ANNUAL AWARDS 2 0 2 0 Alpha Lambda Michigan State Univer sity Alpha B, Region V Healing Commissioning Project: Composer Jordyn Davis has been commissioned to write a piece to honor the healing process for sister survivors specifically at Michigan State University, following interviews with these survivors. This important conversation continues with a partnership with EVE (End Violent Encounters), which has a museum exhibit currently on display on campus. The project includes SAI, Phi Mu Alpha, Tau Beta Sigma, and Kappa Kappa Psi chapters at MSU, and the piece will be premiered by the MSU Wind Symphony at a concert this year, followed by a survey to continue the conversation. Iot a Alpha Oklahoma State Univer sity Zeta A , Region II Pianos and Roses for Music Education: Iota Alpha will be working with two public primary or secondary schools this year in the local area of Stillwater, OK, to provide each with a new piano and music lessons. This project is anticipated to be the beginning of partnerships with these schools, setting up opportunities for individual or group lessons for young students. Kappa Gamma University of Nor th Carolina, Greensboro Tau B, Region VI Women of Note: Composition Competition: Four chosen composers from the Women of Note Composition Competition will have their work premiered at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's thematic program, "She Can, We Can: Beyond the Women's Suffrage Centennial" in Spring 2021. The lecture-recital will be performed by the Woman's Wind Ensemble, comprised of all female musicians, and the composers were directed to consider the women who surfaced during the campaign for Women on the Twenty Dollar Bill, such as Harriet Tubman, Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks, and many more. Thet a Tau Southern Illinois-Carbondale Pi B, Region III Sigma Alpha Iota Instrument Drive: Theta Tau is working with the West Frankfort Community School District and the Eldorado School District to provide donated instruments for students in need. Following a recent instrument donation drive, this project will repair instruments in need of work and purchase new percussion kits, mallets, mouthpieces, and reeds.
