FALL 2020 27 PAN PIPES SIGMA ALPHA IOTA ANNUAL AWARDS 2 0 2 0 Lambda Omicron Florida International Univer sity, Lambda A , Region VI Lambda Omicron received $500 for their project surrounding their support of Mind&Melody, a 501c3 dedicated to improving the quality of life of patients with neurological impairments, such as Alzheimer's, through music. Mind&Melody provides educational, therapeutic, and recreational interactive music sessions to patients in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private residences throughout Florida. Thet a Lambda Furman Univer sity, Tau E, Region VI Theta Lambda received $300 for their project featuring a guest lecturer who would give a presentation highlighting women, past and present, as part of a women in music concert during the University's "Furman Engage Day." Additionally, they will commission a new piece by a female student or recent graduate. Cleveland Alumnae Sigma C, Region VII The Cleveland Alumnae chapter was awarded $500 for their incredible milestone: their 40 th anniversary celebration of their string competition! This grant will help fund next year's competition and all the costs related to running the competition, including judges, the competition site, prizes, postage, and photocopies, as well as a winner's recital. Detroit and Pontc har train Alumnae Alpha A , Region VII The two chapters joined forces and applied for a grant to fully sponsor a "Women in Music Concert" featuring the Royal Oak Concert and Jazz Bands. They will be responsible for promoting the concert via flyers and ads, selling tickets, and ushering at the concert. They will also purchase music by all female composers, provide intermission entertainment from their membership, and set up an SAI booth to pass out information and answer questions about the fraternity. CHAPTER OUTREACH GRANTS Ft. Lauderdale Alumnae Lambda A , Region VI The Ft. Lauderdale Alumnae chapter was awarded $300 for their efforts in providing funds for music education in low-income early education or primary school settings. The money will be spent on method books, instrument rental costs, music repertoire, music equipment, and student music uniforms.
