FALL 2020 39 PAN PIPES SIGMA ALPHA IOTA ANNUAL AWARDS 2 0 2 0 at ninety. I remember being a student at the Interlochen Arts Academy with Carol Ebert (now Oseroff ), a vocal major whom I admired and had a beautiful voice. She made singing sound effortless, and as a flute major who wanted to sing, I wanted to emulate her singing style, so I used her same warm-ups. Imagine my surprise when I saw her in choir this summer, and we were singing together again at Interlochen! We both performed in the talent show: I performed Swingin' Shepherd Blues as a jazz flute solo, and I accompanied Carol on flute for her soprano solo, Over My Head, an African American spiritual. It was wonderful reliving that high school experience again, but in the present. The culmination of our week was our choral concert which took place Saturday afternoon in Corson Auditorium, and was later broadcast over WICA Public Radio. The experience was profound, and I got lost in the beauty of the music. Along with many others, I look forward to attending Interlochen's Adult Choir Camp again, rather than in forty more years! In the meantime, I intend to use my new choral conducting skills as Song Leader for Pontchartrain (MI) Alumnae Chapter, and my improved vocal skills performing for rituals and musicales. — Cathy Feldman-Duncan and Marie Bonello, Pontchartrain (MI) Alumnae Chapter INSTITUTION GRANTS Aspen Music Fes tival National Vocal Sc holar ship Brevard Music Center Chaut auqua Ins titution Eas tern Music Fes tival Interloc hen Center for the Ar ts MacDowell – Pan's Cott age Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point Round Top International Fes tival Ins titute
