D ear Readers, Welcome to another jam packed issue of PAN PIPES! Spring is fully in bloom, with an ever increasing number of in-person activities happening all around us, and I am personally looking forward to more collaborative music making and live concert attendance. As you'll see from the accounts within, SAI chapters and sisters have been hard at work in providing those musical opportunities for themselves and others. Summer is just around the corner, as is the 50th SAI National Convention in Greensboro, NC. We've shared highlights of the five-day schedule, an in-depth look at the process for the IAMA Composer-Judges, and a description of a few of the planned special events. For a full list of registration details and activity opportunities, please visit: https://www.sai-national.org/resources/2022- convention.html We round out the issue with some interesting pieces from home and abroad: a peek at the Kennedy Center's Cartography Project—a multi-year commissioning project dedicated to opening dialogue about anti-racism; a study of the music of France's Queen Marie-Antoinette; the life and work of two SAI sisters—soprano Kearstin Piper Brown and music librarian Anna Harriet Heyer; and the music of Polish composer Jaroslaw de Zielinski (1844-1922). Sit yourself down with a nice warm beverage, and enjoy diving into these diverse and fact-filled articles. As always, PAN PIPES welcomes input from our readers. Are you or a colleague involved in a music related project or cause? Have you seen or heard a presentation on a slice of music history or an interesting aspect of a musician's life? Is there a new educational resource or use of technology to share?
