8 Spring 2022 • sai-national.org SAI at State Music Education Conferences Music Notes FLORIDA FLORIDA The SAI booth at the Florida Music Education Association's Conference was a great representation of SAI and what our organization has to offer alumnae, collegiate students, and prospective members. e booth included the display of the materials sent from National Headquarters—membership and Philanthropies pamphlets, Tempo! and PAN PIPES, and address update forms. It also included alumnae chapter pamphlets to encourage alumnae members who are unaffiliated to join an SAI Alumnae Chapter. e Tampa Alumnae Chapter reached out to all collegiate and alumnae SAI members in Florida who might be attending the convention and could volunteer to help run the booth. A Google spreadsheet was used to organize the volunteers and to transfer information regarding it (i.e. location, schedule, etc). Someone was at the booth at all times to meet and greet with SAIs and other prospective members that stopped by, and we had excellent help from the Orlando Alumnae chapter. Due to the Omicron variant, the attendance at the entire FMEA Conference was much lower than usual. at being said, the booth still had many members come by to pick up their SAI sticker for their badge and we had some unaffiliated alumnae update their addresses. e display flag did a great job catching people's eyes from long distances. One suggestion for the future is to include a large banner highlighting reasons why one should join an SAI Alumnae chapter, similar to that of other organizations in attendance. Overall, it was an excellent use of our time, and I think that we will continue to sponsor a booth at FMEA in the future. — Submitted by Damara Besker, President, Tampa Alumnae Chapter Each year the Fraternity accepts grant applications from SAI chapters for booths and displays at state music education conferences. With the return of conventions and large gatherings this year, the following represent some of those who were able to participate once again. MISSOURI MISSOURI The SAI booth at the 84th Annual Missouri Music Educators Association Convention had about 80 sisters visit it this year. We assisted sisters in getting connected with both the St. Louis Alumnae and Kansas City Alumnae Chapters, and we were able to reconnect with eight "lost" sisters. is year we had SAI sisters sign up for volunteer slots using SignUpGenius.
