For those of you who know me or perhaps read my bio, you know that I work as a research scientist for a private Ivy League research university. So, you might ask, how does SAI and music fit into my life? It's simple. Active leadership in Sigma Alpha Iota has allowed me to keep my passion for music alive in a career full of scientific experiments. It's the balance I need to keep me grounded. And while I know I still have lessons to learn and improvements to make, SAI has played a direct role in shaping me as a musician, friend, colleague, supervisor, a woman in science, and as a leader in our Fraternity. It is my hope that I can continue to give back to SAI as its next national president and that we can continue to work together to shape our great organization and the individuals that comprise it. Enough about me, let's get back to bragging about convention! This issue of Pan Pipes features multiple highlights from our recent National Convention. For those of you that were able to attend in person, it will trigger fond memories of all the events and music we shared. For those that were unable to be with us this year, this issue will provide you with images and articles that will transport you there in spirit. You will also be introduced to the newly elected members of the National Officers Conference and learn about our new national objectives for the 2022-2025 triennium. We will also be celebrating our Fraternity and Philanthropies award-winning members and chapters from the 2021-2022 Fraternity year. While convention is the main focus of this issue, it will also provide an update on the aerosol study SAI supported in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, feature a piece on commissioning new works, contain a spotlight on Filipino- American women musicians, and a world of music piece from Jayne Hanlin about Ernst von Dohnányi. We hope you enjoy! In closing, I am humbled and honored to work with you on our next triennial adventure together. In line with our new national objectives, I plan to foster an environment of stability, advancement, and inspiration.
