D ear Readers, If I've timed it just right, this issue of PAN PIPES will be headed to the printers while I'm boarding a flight with my family for a three-year move to Belgium. I'm pretty excited, to say the least! My husband will be working with the SHAPE International Band, the military band of NATO, which is composed of musicians of the United States Armed Forces as well as musicians from other allied countries. I'll be sure to report back on some of our family's musical adventures while abroad. For now, wish us luck as we navigate the intricacies of an overseas move and our relatively new knowledge of the French language! Merci beaucoup! As many know, this summer saw the pandemic delayed 50th National Convention finally come to pass, with much music, sisterhood, and celebration. A good portion of this extended issue attempts to give a brief glimpse into the events that took place and the information shared—no easy task, to be sure, which means watch for additional highlights in future issues. We also feature the national award, grant, and scholarship recipients, some of whom were honored at the convention's Dinner of Honors. Sprinkled throughout are: articles from award winning chapters; musicale, workshop, and speech recaps; and great additional articles by our SAI sisters on topics near and dear to their hearts.
