FALL 2022 45 S i g m a A l p h a I o t a Annual Philanthropies Awards Ciao!! I wanted to sincerely thank you and the commi ee again for this gracious scholarship! As I am wrapping up my time at the Trentino Music Festival, I am so grateful to have been able to do this program. I have gained much invaluable performance experience. Before now, I had never played in a wind quintet or performed a full Mozart symphony. I had the honor of being in a brand new orchestration of the opera L'Incoronazione di Poppea, which was a very rewarding and challenging show. In addition to all the musical experiences, this was my first time ever leaving North America. I have explored the beautiful Dolomite region, met wonderful locals and have a empted to speak some very basic Italian to them, and visited Venice. Every morning, I would leave my hotel and look around in awe at the fact that I get to live here for a month. There are even other SAI sisters here- both students and faculty. It is amazing to see that truly no ma er where we go, there will be sisters! Leslie Hisman, Sigma Upsilon Summer Music Scholarship Recipient I wanted to thank you for your financial support towards my professional development this summer. My time at Chicago Summer Opera (CSO) ended last week and I am now at Opera Steamboat rehearsing for a production Lori Laitman's The Three Feathers. As part of the CSO program, I had the opportunity to perform First Lady in a fully staged production of The Magic Flute. I was excited to learn that my Second Lady, Erica Jackson, is also an SAI alumna (picture, om le to right: Tessa Morris, Erica Jackson, and Ella Torres). The experience of ge ing to perform a Mozart opera role in its entirety was a crucial step in my development. As I continue onto my master's in voice at Indiana, I have a new found confidence in my abilities as a performer and artist. I am also looking forward to connecting with the Bloomington Alumnae Chapter during this transition. Love and roses, Ella Torres Summer Music Scholarship Recipient
