I was able to travel, perform opera and musical theatre scenes, see three operas at the Arena di Verona, participate in private coachings and lessons, and meet several SAI's who had made the journey to Europe! During this program, I was able to work with the legendary mezzo- soprano, Katherine Ciesinski ... she was extremely complimentary of my voice and said she saw much promise in my performing future. As well, J'nai Bridges, who is a Grammy Award winning opera singer, happened to be in Verona singing at the Arena di Verona. She came to speak with us, and that was an experience I may have never had if I was not at that exact spot at that exact time. The training that I received at Opera Viva! was truly life changing, and due to your help, I was able to travel to new parts of Italy every weekend and afford to feed myself at the same time! I was able to visit Verona, Lake Garda, Florence, and Venice all thanks to you and SAI ... Thank you so much for believing in me and my studies! This was a summer I will NEVER forget! Parker Millspaugh, Alumna Summer Music Scholarship Recipient I was able to use the money to work towards my Master's Degree at Texas Tech University! I took classes in Music Education, Conducting, and Classroom Management. It was great to work with awesome faculty and learn om them. I really appreciate the scholarship's help in making this happen!
