It seems like just yesterday we were basking in our post-convention glow and before we knew it, fall was behind us, and we were welcoming in a new calendar year. I often find myself pausing for reflection this time of the year; to look back and analyze a pivotal aspect of my life. This year, I found myself taking a deep dive into the key events surrounding that significant moment when my lifelong bond to music was secured. As an only child, my parents enrolled me in every type of activity they could find. They wanted me to be a well-rounded, outgoing individual. While they may have overcompensated a bit, they did introduce me to music. Neither one of them being a musician themselves, it wasn't something we could participate in together, but it was a life-long aspect that we appreciated and celebrated together. Not many individuals can say they played the euphonium during their Sacrament of Confirmation! In the spirit of impact and music, this issue of Pan Pipes contains an update on Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc. You will get to read about the new leadership driving the goals and mission of the charitable arm of the Fraternity, as well as hear from recipients of featured scholarships and grants offered to our chapters and members. You will read firsthand accounts of how the generosity of our donors and volunteers impacts musicians throughout many different aspects of their careers. Lastly, you will witness the creativity of the new Board of Directors as they develop unique fundraising campaigns and revitalize several established programs. Speaking of which, have you sent in your Birthday Bash donation yet? What better way to celebrate what SAI means to you than to send in a donation for a monumental occasion. While we celebrate SAI's 120th birthday this year, this issue highlights a few additional causes for celebration. Congratulations to SAI National Arts Associate Tania León on her Kennedy Center Award and to the South Atlanta Alumnae Chapter on their installation. Thank you to the Buffalo Alumnae Chapter for their impactful community musical theater program and to Kathi Bower Peterson for her comprehensive analysis of music inspired by art. Lastly, don't forget to check out the annual Composers Bureau update that accompanies this winter issue. I am very pleased to report that the state of our Fraternity is strong and I'm looking forward to what the rest of this year has in store for us!
