D ear Readers, What a busy and full few months we've had; I blinked and the first month of 2023 had already gone! After the busy holiday season and wintry January, we often greet February with varying emotions — it could be with a bit of winter blues, elation that it's a shortened month, or with hope for an early spring (depending upon that famous prognosticating rodent). For SAI, I always look forward to sending out our Winter issue of PAN PIPES and the accompanying annual Composers Bureau Update. It's a combination of the past and future; music making that has happened and ideas for possible music making as the year unfolds. We continue sharing some highlights from this past summer's SAI Convention with you: a listing of the new SAI Philanthropies, Inc. Board of Directors, an introduction of our newest alumnae chapter, and a full article by Kathi Bower Peterson based on her convention workshop, that gives us an interesting glimpse into instances when music and art have inspired each other. The composers theme continues throughout this issue, as Jayne Hanlin takes us on a tour of Greig's Troldhaugen in Norway and Hollis Thoms shares his research on works dedicated to poet Robert Burns' "Tam o'Shanter." In our next issue I'll be taking a bit of my own advice, writing up a piece about our musical travels and excursions here in Belgium.
