2 Winter 2023 • sai-national.org Music Notes S igma Alpha Iota welcomed its newest alumnae chapter this past summer — the South Atlanta Alumnae Chapter. e sisters have been very busy since installation and Editor Requel Stegall offered us a brief update: On August 27, 2022 the South Atlanta Alumnae Chapter had an amazing time fellowshipping for our charter day. We met at McDonough High School, where our President is the Choral Director and Department Chair. Aer the beautiful ceremony, we ate and had our first meeting as a chapter in the chorus room. e musicale included selections performed by SAIs Nikkia Grant, Brandi Neal, Kanesha Banks, and Shawntel Sharpe. Our first Province Officer visit, with Tau A PO Whitney Brown, went amazingly well! We met at our Treasurer Jasmine Arnold's home. Many creative ideas were brought to the table as we planned for the following year and discussed old business. Being together in person really boosted our morale and gave us a chance to get to know each other better. December 11 was our holiday meeting potluck at our President Brandi Neal's home. We exchanged gis with sisters we were paired with through the Elfster website. e overwhelming joy that each gi brought to each sister was a magical experience and really made our December meeting full of holiday spirit! Aer our meeting we ate great food and played a Holiday Madlibs that was very comical. Our Community Service committee provided the chapter with our second service project, which consisted of volunteering at the Alliance eater for the play "A Christmas Carol." On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day our Health and Fitness committee presented us with "Skate with a Rose" at Skate Zone. For February, in the spirit of Valentine's Day, each sister will be paired with a Galentine to take on a Rosebud date. We must go on the date before the first of March and submit pictures to our Social Chair by February 28 th ; the first couple to send in their pictures will receive a prize. March is both International Womens' Day and Music in Our Schools month. We plan on doing a womens' composer benefit concert. In June we intend on having a Founders' Day Ceremony Brunch. is will include a potluck meal and a musicale to follow the ceremony. — Submitted by Requel Stegall, Editor and Yearbook Directory Chair, South Atlanta Alumnae Chapter Members of the South Atlanta Alumnae Chapter at the chapter installation.
