D ear Members of Sigma Alpha Iota, This June, SAI celebrated 120 years of music and sisterhood. How did you celebrate this milestone? Like many others, I chose to mark the occasion by donating to the SAI Philanthropies Inc. Birthday Bash Campaign. On the actual day, I spent some time reminiscing about my personal journey in SAI. Smirking at my hesitancy to join in the first place, recalling the anxiety and awe of my initiation ceremony, reflecting on the dedication I felt to my collegiate and alumnae chapters, and embracing my determination to continue to motivate and nurture our fraternity. I also took time to express my gratitude for all the connections I've made and the individuals I have met who have become such an integral part of my life. I feel so privileged to be able to give back to such a generous organization. In this summer issue of PAN PIPES, we recognize others who celebrated Founder's Day in their own special way. Congratulations to the SAI Philanthropies, Inc. Board on their successful Birthday Bash Campaign. They have put a lot of time and energy into making sure we understand the impact of our contributions. To this point, you can read about several of the programs in this edition, including our musical outreach efforts with the Uganda Mubuku Valley School and the Kasese Local Musical Association project, as well as the personal experiences of several grant recipients. We also pay tribute to a former People to People Director, Betsy Fountain. Please continue to keep the impact of your donations in mind as you plan your chapter and personal budgets for the next fraternity year. In addition to 120 years of SAI history, this issue also celebrates the accomplishments of members of SAI's Composers Bureau as well as several of our Distinguished Members. We are also introduced to new Distinguished Members initiated throughout the past fraternity year. Other features include pieces by members highlighting topics such as alumnae chapter service projects, tracking music on the presidential campaign trail, and a visit to several musical places around the world. Lastly, I'm very pleased to announce the location of our 2025 National Convention as Minneapolis, Minnesota. Additional information and details will be shared throughout the next fraternity year, so stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, block your calendars, start saving, and please join me and several hundred other SAIs for the 51st SAI National Convention at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis from July 17-21, 2025. Much SAI Love, Jessica Chichester, National President
