He is a National Board Certified Teacher and a member of the West Virginia Music Educators Association, National Band Association, and College Band Directors National Association. He is an alumnus of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia's Rho Tau Chapter. Edward Moncada Edward Moncada was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Lambda Lambda Chapter at the Texas A&M University-Kingsville in April. Edward Moncada is a graduate of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where he received a Bachelor of Music degree with Teacher Certification and a Master of Music degree in Saxophone Performance. For the past 12 years he has been an active musician and music educator in the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas area. As an educator, Mr. Moncada served as an adjunct lecturer in music, assisted with the Javelina Marching Band, and conducted the University Band and Jazz Band 3 and 4 at the Texas A&M University-Kingsville School of Music from 2018-2023. Mr. Moncada has also worked as a clinician for TMEA All-State Clinics in Region 15 and Region 28. As a saxophonist, Mr. Moncada has performed in a variety of classical and jazz settings. He has shared the stage with artists such as Jeff "Tain" Watts, Byron Stripling, Wycliffe Gordon, Eric Marienthal, Gordon Goodwin, and Doc Severinsen and made appearances in numerous performing ensembles, including the McAllen All-Star Jazz Band and the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Brittany Patterson Dr. Brittany Patterson was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Mu Eta Chapter at the University of Montevallo in April. Dr. Brittany Patterson is an Assistant Professor of Music History at the University of Montevallo where she teaches flute and music history. She has performed with the Tuscaloosa and Memphis Symphony Orchestras, is Secretary and principal flute of the Memphis Repertory Orchestra, and co-founder of the Delta Blue Chamber Players. She has had articles published in e Flute Examiner, Ala Breve, and her research on Germaine Tailleferre has appeared in the Journal for the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors and the Journal of the International Alliance for Women in Music. She has been invited to present at conferences and universities all over the U.S. She currently serves as the Midsouth Flute Society secretary and has served on the board for the Alabama Music Teachers Association. Wayne Shields-Hogue Wayne Shields-Hogue was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Iota Beta Chapter at Murray State University (MSU) in April. Mr. Shields-Hogue has been an active member of Murray State University's theater program for many years. Starting with his initiation in the Gamma Delta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (PMA), Wayne has had an active presence in Campus Lights, PMA, and Sigma Alpha Iota's joint philanthropy to raise money for music student scholarships. Aside from being a part of the cast and crew of countless productions, he has also directed Campus Lights' Legally Blonde as well as other past shows. Currently, Shields-Hogue is directing the Murray State University's production of e Addams Family and serves as the Administrative Assistant for the MSU theater department. He has also been active in Playhouse in the Park, a local community theater for all ages. He his working on a Master of Arts in Teaching Artistry from Wayne State University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Murray State University. Dr. Timothy Westerhaus Dr. Timothy Westerhaus was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Delta Eta Chapter at Northern Arizona University in April. Conductor Timothy Westerhaus is passionate about transforming humankind through choral music that fosters empathy, builds inclusive community, and deepens understanding through diverse programming and collaborations. Dr. Westerhaus is Director of Choral Studies at the Northern Arizona University School of Music and Artistic-Director Designate for the Master Chorale of Flagstaff. From 2010 to 2021, he served as Director of Choirs and Vocal Studies at Gonzaga University, serving also as Music Department Chair from 2017-2021. He recently served as President of the Northwestern Region of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and as the University & College Curriculum Officer of the Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA). He currently serves as a member of the National Collegiate Choral Organization Board. Westerhaus founded and conducted the professional-level chamber chorus, Spokane Kantorei, an ensemble of music educators committed to sparking the imagination with fresh interpretations of early music and premieres of new compositions. Dr. Westerhaus received his master and doctoral degrees in choral conducting from Boston University, where he studied with Ann Howard Jones, and he received his bachelor's degree in sacred music from the University of Saint omas, where he studied with Angela Broeker. Sharon Whetham Sharon Whetham was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Eta Rho Chapter at the University of Delaware in April. Sharon Whetham has served as the Academic Program Coordinator of Scheduling at the University of Delaware since 2019. She assists in booking reservations for the School of Music facilities. is includes all rehearsals, recitals, ensemble performances, and student organization use of the buildings. Whetham also coordinates the rental of keys, lockers, and instruments for the students and staff involved in the School of Music. Prior to her work at the University of Delaware, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Manufacturer's Rent Firm and as a Secretary in the Christina School District, both in Newark, DE.
