2 Winter 2024 • sai-national.org D ear Members of Sigma Alpha Iota, Welcome to a new calendar year with all the resolutions and well wishes a turn of our calendar brings. Our collegiate chapters find themselves preparing to invite new members to join our cherished sisterhood, while alumnae chapters look to continue their wonderful musical programming and outreach. Many of our provinces will be hosting Province Day in the next several months, which is such a wonderful way to renew and revitalize our spirit of sisterhood and music. These important moments of collaboration build our momentum as we look to be "United in Music" at our upcoming 2025 National Convention in Minneapolis, MN. As we wait patiently for Old Man Winter to release his clutch on us and the transition into springtime to arrive, this issue of PAN PIPES offers us some much-needed comfort and diversion. Keeping with tradition, this winter edition ushers in the 75th Annual American Composers Update. Please take the time to read about our new director of the SAI Composers Bureau and all the wonderful artists that are featured in this update. Step up to the challenge and make a connection with a new artist and their music this year. Continuing with this theme, several artists are also featured in this issue of PAN PIPES. Read about their journeys and the impact their new music is having in their respective fields. Next, delve into the past to learn about the music of the Suffragette movement and Native American history, and then visit the Land of Sax. Finally, see how some of our chapters are fulfilling our National Objectives through creative programming. I had the pleasure of attending the Professional Fraternity Association's annual meeting this past fall where Susan Christopher, our Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of SAI Philanthropies Inc. and Director of the People- to-People Project, was awarded the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award. It was a proud moment for the Fraternity and our charitable arm, and it illustrates the impact we can have when we work together to encourage, nurture, and support the art of music. Don't forget to show your support for our charitable efforts this year by applying for a grant or scholarship, or making a personal or chapter donation, or even investing in a brick to make a lasting impact at our National Headquarters. As we reach the halfway point of this triennium, I send thoughts of appreciation to each of you as we continue to work together to make SAI thrive. Much SAI Love, Jessica Chichester, National President A WORD FROM THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT The 75th Annual American Composers Update, featuring details about SAI Composers Bureau members' new publications and premieres, is available for download at: www.sai-national.org/resources/composers-bureau.html
