2 0 2 5 S I G M A A L P H A I O T A A W A R D S PHILANTHROPIES PAN PIPES FALL 2025 39 Angela Bonello Pontchartrain Alumnae, Alpha A, Region VII SUMMER MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS Angela Bonello spent one month in Saluzzo, Italy, rehearsing, coaching, and performing the beloved role of Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at Saluzzo Opera Academy. She arrived at the program fully prepared with her role learned and jumped right into music, recitative, and staging rehearsals. After two diligent weeks of rehearsals in the warm Italian sun, the full opera was on its feet. The following week, the production team added costumes, polished finer details, heightened the comedic timing, and the orchestra joined the singers. The final week of the program, each of the three casts had two dress rehearsals and a final performance for a local Italian audience. When she wasn't singing Susanna, Angela performed in the chorus for the other two casts. Outside of rehearsals, Angela successfully completed a role study of Zerlina from Don Giovanni, auditioned for an opera agent, performed in the Aria Evening concert, and took coachings, lessons, and Italian classes. Her Italian debut of Susanna was a success, and she enjoyed working with the conductor William Cole and director Daniel Okulitch.
