Cox earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Fort Hays State University, a Carpenter Degree from Salina Vo-Tech, and a P.E. and Health Degree from Kansas Wesleyan University. He is also a 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Dr. Sheila Feay-Shaw Dr. Sheila Feay-Shaw was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter in May. Dr. Feay-Shaw taught general music in Seattle, Washington, and Milwaukee for ten years. She has held Board Certification as a Music Therapist for thirty-two years and recently retired as a Professor of Music Education and Area Head of Music Education at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. She specializes in world music pedagogy in music education and has presented sessions for state, national, and international conferences. Her conference appearances include Glasgow, Scotland; Edmonton, Alberta; Toronto, Canada; and Bergen, Norway. Her work in world music includes music from Ghana, Chinese Luogo, and Trinidadian steel pans, and she worked with the Electa Quinney Institute for American Indian Education to provide musical transcriptions of traditional songs for the Ojibwe Tribe website. She has published numerous scholarly articles on world music, music therapy, and music education, and has served as the chair for WMEA's Research Group and NAfME's Social Sciences Special Research Group. Dr. Feay-Shaw earned a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Washington, specializing in world music and music in special education. She is a recipient of the Outstanding Creative Research Award, the WMEA Michael G. George Outstanding Service Award, and the Council For Research in Music Education Outstanding Dissertation Award. Paul Foster Paul Foster was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Decatur Alumnae Chapter in June. Foster has held church organ and choir director positions, previously conducting the Seminary Singers at Boston University School of Theology. He sang with the Boston Symphony Chorus, Handel and Haydn Society, and Chorus Pro Musica. Foster continues to play organ as a substitute when needed. He is a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur and plays bells and sings in the choir at First Presbyterian Church. Each semester, Foster audits classes in music at Millikin University. He retired in 2018 from Bank of America after thirty years, where he was Vice President in Investment Administration. Now, he is member of several organizations in Decatur, including Garden Club, Beautify Decatur Coalition, Audubon Society, and Piano Club. He is a volunteer at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Meals on Wheels, and Rock Springs Nature Center, and is a member of the Symphony Orchestra Guild of Decatur. Foster earned a Master of Sacred Music from Boston University School of Theology and a Bachelor of Church Music from Millikin University. He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Dr. Brooke Johnson Dr. Brooke Johnson was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Eta Rho Chapter at the University of Delaware in April. Dr. Johnson is Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Delaware. She has served as Director of the Fightin' Blue Hens Marching Band and Co-Director of the Symphonic Band since 2024. Previously, she was Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Athletic Bands at Miami University in Oxford, OH. Dr. Johnson is an active guest conductor and adjudicator. She is a member of the College Band Directors National Association, the National Association for Music Education, the National Band Association, and Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society. Dr. Johnson earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Wind Conducting from the University of Kansas, a Master of Music in Music Education and Conducting from Appalachian State University, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Delaware. Derek E. Machan Derek E. Machan was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter in May. Machan is in his twenty-fourth year of teaching at Waterford Union High School, where he teaches four sections of choir and is Director of the annual Madrigal Dinner and biannual musical. Under his direction, the choirs have performed at the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association Convention, the Dorian Choral Festival, and as the featured choir at the Clearwater Choral Festival. They have participated in Carthage College and Marquette University choir festivals and have been invited to participate in collaborative concerts with community choirs and universities in southeastern Wisconsin. He is active in the American Choral Directors Association and Wisconsin School Music Association, and is past director of the Männer-GesangVerein Harmonia, a German men's choir. Machan has extensive involvement in musicals, particularly in the pit orchestra. He has played piano for many shows, including West Side Story, Grease, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
