For more than a century, Sigma Alpha Iota has built a legacy rooted in friendship, service, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to music. At the center of that legacy stands our National Headquarters—far more than simply an office building. It serves as the operational hub of the Fraternity, houses important records and materials, and preserves treasured historical documents, artifacts, and memorabilia that tell the story of Sigma Alpha Iota across generations. As the owner and steward of National Headquarters, Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc. is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and long-term preservation of the building and grounds. Over the last two years, significant work has taken place to protect and improve our Fraternity home, totaling over $175,000. Following severe weather and environmental challenges surrounding the property, extensive debris and tree cleanup was completed to help protect the grounds and surrounding structures. One of the most significant projects undertaken was the replacement of the retaining wall along the hillside behind the building. This major repair was necessary to help prevent erosion and mudslide concerns that could threaten the property and infrastructure. Additional improvements over the last two years have included: • Installation of a building generator to provide continuity during power outages • Repairs to exterior leaks and water intrusion issues • Interior leak repairs and restoration work • Replacement of aging blinds throughout the building • Landscaping and grounds repair related to hurricane and storm damage • Property cleanup and preventative maintenance efforts The care and preservation of National Headquarters is made possible through the generosity and continued support of our members, alumnae, chapters, and friends of Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc. Their support allows us to address important maintenance needs while planning responsibly for the future of our Fraternity's home. To continue these efforts, Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc. is preparing to launch a Capital Campaign focused on future improvements and long-term maintenance needs for National Headquarters. Planned goals for the campaign include: • Re-siding the entire building • Repaving and repainting the parking lot • Continued exterior preservation and repair work • Any additional infrastructure and maintenance improvements More information about the Capital Campaign will be shared in the Fall issue of PAN PIPES, including opportunities for the greater SAI community and supporters of Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc. to help strengthen and preserve our Fraternity home for years to come.
