Sigma Alpha Iota

It's officially summertime in the northeast, which means one thing for this self-proclaimed community band groupie— outdoor concerts, and lots of them! My area has a good number of community bands, and nothing beats a summer night at the pavilion with the sounds of marches or jazz. Outdoor concert season is in full swing, and I already have the mosquito bites to prove it. Music is engrained in our psyche, and with that, our bonds to Sigma Alpha Iota. Our Symphony reminds us "to listen, to be still and know the harmony from within." That inner harmony is what drives us forward, motivating us to grow, learn, and support each other. It sparks a love for music in our communities like Deanna Jacobs, who unexpectedly found herself renovating a 125-year-old music hall (page 16). It inspired Danette Warren to not only become a Suzuki teacher, but to train others to become teachers as well (page 12). And our own National Headquarters is at the heart of it all, the home of our cherished Fraternity, which is still undergoing improvements and repairs from Hurricane Helene nearly two years ago. SAI Philanthropies, Inc. is excited to launch the Capital Campaign (page 14), to ensure Sigma Alpha Iota can continue to nurture our current and future members. More to come on this program in the next issue as well! The evidence of the Fraternity's lasting legacy can be seen in the Oak Park Alumnae Chapter, who honors fourteen fifty-year members— and beyond!—on page 6 of this issue. I never grow weary of reading your stories and successes, to cheering you on from afar when you all reach, and often surpass, your personal goals.
