ANNELLE CHANDLER MCADAMS NATIONAL ALUMNAE SERVICE PROJECT AWARDS CATEGORY III (21+ MEMBERS) Fort Wayne Beta B, Region V Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter collaborated with area organizations to bring the critically acclaimed string group, String Queens, to the city. Aptly named the "String Queens Project," this undertaking was marked by several events in one. First, the group provided interactive string lessons to students and others, teaching them how to play Pachelbel's Canon by ear and without music. They then traveled to Northrop High School to give two additional listening sessions to students. Their visit culminated with a public performance, which was well- attended by the community and members of the chapter. CATEGORY I (1-10 MEMBERS) Miami Lambda A, Region VI Miami Alumnae Chapter worked with a group of students at R.R. Morton Elementary School to prepare them for their annual Holiday Sing-a-Long performance. Members worked with the children on vocal, instrumental, and dance performances to showcase their talents on the big stage. There was also an emphasis on cultural diversity, with the students learning traditional Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa songs and dances. The chapter achieved a 100% participation from its members during this project.
