4 SIGMA A S PIES, INC P . 4 SIGMA A S KIMBERLI RENDER Boulder Alumnae Chapter , Xi C, Region I S oprano Kimberli Render, originally from Columbus, GA, graduated from the Columbus State University's Schwob School of Music. Earning degrees in both Music Education and Vocal Performance, she helped charter the Lambda Sigma chapter where she served as president and received the Sword of Honor. A highlight in her undergraduate career came the summer of 2009, when she was invited to participate in Si Parla, si Canta in Urbania, Italy. In the fall of 2011, she began pursuing her Master's of Music in Vocal Performance under the study of Dr. Tiffany Blake at Colorado State University. In the spring of 2012, she was honored with the 1st Place award in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild competition, as well as scholarships from the Dante Alighieri and Allied Arts organizations. While living in Colorado, she has also had the pleasure of being an active member of the Boulder Alumnae Chapter. Some of her performance credits include Governess from Britten's Turn of the Screw, Soprano soloist in Bach's Magnificat under the baton of Helmut Rilling, Lucinda from Sondheim's Into the Woods, Soprano Soloist in Mozart's Coronation Mass. She has just made her international debut singing the role of Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni in her return to Italy. She is also a certified K-12 Georgia music educator, who enjoys sharing her passion for music and life with children. VOICE, SECOND place Bron wyn Whi t e Theta Gamma , Universit y of Te xas at San Antonio, kappa A , Region II B ronwyn White is a first-year Master's student at the Purchase College Conservatory – State University of New York. She received a Bachelor's of Music in Vocal Performance summa cum laude from The University of Texas at San Antonio, where she studied under fellow SAI (and San Antonio Alumnae Chapter member) Linda Poetschke. As a member of Theta Gamma, she served as vice president-membership and sergeant-at-arms. She has appeared with The University of Texas at San Antonio as Mademoiselle Silberklang (The Impresario), Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance), Despina (Cosí fan tutte) and Joy in the world premiere of A Brief History of Root Vegetables. She has also toured as Annette (Brundibar) with the University of Texas at San Antonio Opera-to-go. Her roles at Purchase Opera include La Fée (Cendrillon), Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel) and Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), which she will be performing this fall. Bronwyn has appeared as a soloist with the Purchase Symphony Orchestra, the UTSA Orchestra and the Anchorage Concert Chorus and Orchestra. In 2011 she was selected to appear in the title role of Alberto Gonzales in The Alberto Gonzales Cantata for a performance at the National Opera Association Convention. She was named a Finalist at the regional level of the Classical Singer Competition and has twice placed in the Finals at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition (Texoma Region). She has received additional training at Taos Opera Institute and Crittenden Summer Opera Studio. WOODWIND/BRASS, first place SArah wood S Iota Phi, Vanderbilt Universit y, Psi B, Region VII arah earned a Bachelor's of Music degree from Vanderbilt University and began pursuit of a Master's of Education from the same school this summer. Throughout her undergraduate years, Sarah performed flute with the Vanderbilt Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Big Band, and Vanderbilt Off-Broadway Pit Orchestra in addition to many chamber ensembles. She particularly enjoyed being involved in premieres of student-composed works. Last summer, Sarah was invited to attend the Vanderbilt Music Academy Chamber Music Festival, where she studied with Julien Beaudiment and the members of the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet. She recently joined the Nashville Symphony Chorus and will be taking her first orchestral audition with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra this summer. For the last three years, Sarah has been a part-time music intern at Belmont United Methodist Church, and she will be continuing in that position as she begins her graduate coursework in secondary education. Sarah hopes to always be an active performer and teacher. Strings/harp first place , Charissa Ba rg er C Alpha , Universit y of Michigan, Alpha A , Region VII harissa Barger has established herself as an inspiring performing artist and dedicated arts educator in Southern California. Her technical mastery and expressive playing of the harp keep her in high demand as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. As an ambassador for new music, Charissa has premiered numerous works, collaborated with composers and performed for innovative concerts and recordings. She is an enthusiastic educator and seeks to use music as a tool to help students reach their high potentials. Charissa currently lives in Los Angeles where she is a candidate for the Master's of Music degree at the University of Southern California.
