NEB Dr. Deborah R.Volker National Vice President, Ritual It was two years before a painfully shy Deborah Volker finally yielded to the urging of her college advisor and was initiated into the Delta Mu Chapter at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She went on to serve as Delta Tau recording secretary and president. Deb is a violinist with The United States Air Force Band, Bolling AFB, Washington, DC. She earned a Bachelor's in violin performance from Temple. After earning her Master's at Northwestern, where she affiliated with Beta Chapter, she returned to Temple, where she earned her teaching certificate and a post-graduate performance certificate. She affiliated with the Philadelphia Alumnae and served as the chapter's president. She later served as president of the Washington DC Alumnae Sharon W. Doty, MHR, J.D. Chairman, SAI Philanthropies, Inc. Appointed by the newly elected NEB, Sharon Womack Doty is a consultant in Tulsa, OK. In addition to graduating with distinction with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Doty has a Master's in Human Relations and a diploma from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics in Interdisciplinary Training in Child Abuse and Neglect. Sharon is an initiate of Alpha Iota at OU and graduated with a Bachelor's in Vocal Performance. She was a member of the Tulsa Alumnae Chapter prior to serving as Zeta A PO. She is a Sword Ruth Sieber Johnson Executive Director Ruth Sieber Johnson is an Epsilon Tau initiate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, from which she received a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance. She also attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL, and did graduate work at UALR in teaching the gifted and talented. After completing her studies, she joined the roster of the Arkansas Opera Theater. Her roles included Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Adele in Die Fledermaus, and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi. She has appeared in New York with the Stony Brook Bach Aria Festival and in St. Louis and Dallas with their respective Bach societies. She was a charter member of 10 PAN PIPESSUMMER 2012 sai-national.org Chapter, as well as advisor to Delta Mu and Beta Phi Chapters and earned the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from The Catholic University of America. She served as Iota A Province Officer before being elected to the NEB. Her SAI awards include the Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, Wreath of Achievement, and Ring of Excellence. In addition to her primary duties as violinist with The USAF Strings and Musical Director of the Strolling Strings, she teaches CPR and Self-Aid/Buddy Care to both military and civilian personnel. She is also conductor and coach of the McLean (VA) Youth Orchestra and a freelance violinist/violist in the Washington DC area. Deborah is certified as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (NREMT-P) and has been a volunteer with the Fairfax County (VA) Fire and Rescue Department since 2000. She currently serves as President and Rescue Captain of the Franconia Volunteer Fire Department. Deb and her husband, John Swanson, Friend of the Arts, live in Burke, VA. of Honor recipient. She is an effective speaker and accomplished trainer. She has 10 years experience as a litigator and more than 30 years as a staff person and volunteer in agencies advocating for victims of abuse and neglect. She has more than 25 years of experience in organizational development and management of not-for-profit organizations. She has created and conducted training in many areas including advocacy services to victims of abuse, investigation training, creative problem solving, program development, assessment, and legislative advocacy. She is the author of a book and numerous articles dealing with raising awareness about child sexual abuse and training adults how to protect children from abusers. She is also the author of Developing 20/20 Foresight, a book that examines how human beings develop proficiencies in areas of our lives. the Little Rock Alumnae Chapter, served as Mu Province President and President/Vice President, Tau B Province Officer, and National Newsletter Director and editor of Tempo! before being hired for her current position. She has received the Collegiate Scholastic Award, Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, Rose of Dedication, and Ring of Excellence. In addition to her full time job at National Headquarters as Executive Director, she occasionally directs musical theater productions for the Asheville Community Theater and University of North Carolina-Asheville, provides lecture/demonstrations for Elderhostels, and gives concert and recital performances. Her husband, John Johnson, Friend of the Arts, (March 2, 1938 - March 19, 2011) designed and installed the cabinetry at National Headquarters, and always kept a loving eye on the SAI Harmony Rose Garden. With much gratitude for Sigma Alpha Iota, Ruth celebrated her 20th anniversary in the position of Executive Director on July 1, 2012.
