NEB Marcie Richardson National Vice President, Extension Re-elected for a second term to this office with a modified job description, Marcie Richardson has been Assistant Conductor with numerous opera and theater companies including those in Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Mississippi, and Arizona. While residing in New York, she also performed with St. Luke's Chamber Orchestra Children's Free Opera, Il Piccolo Teatro dell'Opera and Bel Canto Opera. She earned her Bachelor's in Accompanying at Arizona State University. Marcie holds a Master's in Music from the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music, doing post-graduate work in Austria at The Franz Schubert Institute and The American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz. Christine Bruns National Vice President, Collegiate Chapters Re-elected for a second term, Christine D. Bruns is a 1994 initiate of Epsilon Chapter at Ithaca College, where she earned both her BM and MM in Music Education. She has served as president and corresponding secretary of her collegiate chapter, president of the Ithaca Patroness-Alumnae Chapter from 1998-2000, and charity recital chair of the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter in 2009. In 2000, Christine was appointed Eta B Province Officer and then, after a move to Atlanta in 2005, became the Tau A Province Officer. As a PO, she helped create the MIT training program and chaired the committee to develop an Officer Training Manual for POs to use with their chapters. In 2008, she also served as the Region 6 Regional Officer and led the Weave II Leadership Seminar in Greenville, South Carolina. She has led convention workshops on recruitment and multi-tasking chapter activities, and she was the chair of the National Objectives Committee for the 2009 and 2012 National Conventions. She was elected as NVP Collegiate Chapters in 2009 and is now serving her Joyce S. Garcia National Vice President, Fraternity Development Joyce S. Garcia is an initiate of the Gamma Rho chapter at the University of Tennessee where she earned a Bachelor of Science in microbiology and a minor music performance. During her collegiate years she served the chapter as secretary and president. Joyce was also known as the resident SAI cake baker making cakes for every SAI function. She was also a member of Knoxville Alumnae/Patroness chapter and served as an advisor to Gamma Rho for several years before being elected president of KAP. She became Province Officer for Psi A in 2003 and served as PO until 2009 when she was elected as Region 7 Regional Officer. Marcie currently resides in Memphis, TN, serving as organist at St. Mary's Catholic Church and coach-accompanist. She has performed with Opera Memphis both in educational outreach programming such as both Senior and Junior Opera Academies, as well as in the preparation of the main season productions. At the University of Memphis/Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music, she serves as principal coach for the Opera Studies Department and Staff Coordinator, Music Facilities Scheduling. She accompanies for the Vocal Arts Division and serves as a faculty member of the Memphis Opera and Song Academy. A Gamma Mu initiate, she has held numerous offices in both her collegiate and alumnae chapters, served as a Gamma Mu Chapter Advisor and Omega C Province Officer, and was instrumental in the re-chartering of the Memphis Alumnae Chapter. She has been awarded her college chapter's Service Award, Dean's Honor Certificate, College Honor Award, Sword of Honor, Ruby Sword of Honor Rose of Honor and Rose of Dedication. She concurrently served as Psi C Province Officer and Project Coordinator for SAI Philanthropies, Inc. second term in office. Christine is a recipient of the SAI College Honor Award, Scholastic Award, Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, and Wreath of Achievement. Christine has been a public and private school music educator in New York, Georgia, and Maryland. While teaching for Groton Central Schools and Rockdale County Schools, she taught middle and high school choir, voice lessons, reading, general music, show choir, pep band, and marching band. Her duties also included co-directing musicals, arts department chair, grant writing, and student group advising. While in Georgia, she was appointed GMEA State Tri-M Chair, wrote articles for Georgia Music News, and presented a workshop at the GMEA state in-service conference. Christine taught private lessons and Kindermusik classes at Joyful Sounds School of Music in Forest Hill, Maryland and now maintains a private studio of woodwind, piano, and voice students in Virginia. As an oboist, she has performed with the Ithaca Concert Band, Army Ground Forces Band, Atlanta's "Tara Winds," the Bel Air Community Band, and the Army Materiel Command Band. She currently plays oboe and English horn with the Chesapeake Bay Wind Ensemble. Christine and her husband, Staff Sergeant Robert Bruns, a trombonist for the US Army and an SAI Friend of the Arts, live in Norfolk with their son, Michael, and three ancient cats. During her tenure as PO, Joyce helped with the installation of two collegiate chapters in Psi A— Lambda Alpha (2003) and Lambda Eta (2004). She also served on the Officer Training Manual revision committee. In 2008 Joyce was appointed as Region 7 RO and led the Weave II leadership seminar in Cleveland, OH. At the Chicago Convention in 2009 she did a workshop entitled "Who is Robert and why are we following his rules?" During her time as Region 7 RO, she also served the region as province officer for Sigma A and Sigma C. Fraternity honors include, the Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, and Wreath of Achievement. Joyce's musical abilities started at the early age of four with the piano. She also plays bassoon, clarinet, flute, and the French horn. She is active in the worship ministry at her church and works as the laboratory coordinator overseeing microbiology, cell biology, and genetics courses at Pellissippi State Community College.
