WEBSITE: robertsterncomposer.com AUGUSTA READ THOMAS • • • • NEWS: Augusta Read Thomas is working on commissions from The Koussevitzky Music Foundation at the Library of Congress for EARTH ECHOES, Homage to Gustav Mahler, for the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, with Sasha Cooke, mezzosoprano soloist and Nathan Gunn, baritone soloist, which will premiere in Carnegie Hall on Oct. 2012. Additionally, The National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing (commonly known to the Chinese as "The Egg" because of the iconic building) has commissioned a new work for orchestra from Augusta Read Thomas that will be premiered at various concerts in China throughout the months of December 2012 and January 2013, beginning at "The Egg." The Boston Symphony has commissioned Augusta Read Thomas for a Cello Concerto #3 for cellist Lynn Harrell, which will be premiered in March or April 2013.
