For over 30 years, he has premiered the works of American composers including Conrad Susa, David Baker, and SAI Member Laureate Libby Larsen. He has joined with harpsichordist and organist David Jenkins in the Society for Doctrinal Affectation of Baroqgue Music and has had several performances on Public Radio International's A Prairie Home Companion. He has served as editor of the guitar column for the journal of the Minnesota chapter of ASTA/National String Orchestra Association. From 2001 to 2005, he was Director of Guitar Studies for the Minnesota Music Teachers Association, for which he also edited the nations' first multi-genre guitar-pedagogy syllabus. He also has written Composer's Desk Reference for the Classic Guitar, published by Mel Bay Publications. C. Jason Koontz C. Jason Koontz was initiated as a National Arts Associate by the Eta Sigma Chapter in January. C. Jason Koontz has served as Director of Percussion Studies at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) since 2000. He currently teaches applied percussion, percussion ensemble, percussion methods, music appreciation, world music, and directs both the EKU Percussion Ensemble and the EKU steel band. Under his direction, the EKU percussion ensemble twice performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (2003, 2005). Koontz has also performed as a featured artists and ensemble director at the Kentucky Music Educators State In-Service Conference (2003, 2005, 2006). He has traveled to perform and study world music/percussion in Africa, India, Indonesia, and Brazil. Koontz has also performed with groups such as Blast, the Cincinnati Pops and Ballet Orchestras, Lexington Philharmonic, Richmond Symphony, Lexington Theater, Indonesia's the Arts of Rice Traveling Theater, Tonus Percussion Trio, Resonance Percussion Sextet, Star of Indiana drum and bugle corps, Brass Theater, and the Southwind drum and bugle corps. Most recently Koontz performed as a percussionist with the Bollywood film composer A.H. Rahman at Los Angeles's Hollywood Bowl. He is currently president of the Kentucky Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society, a member of the Percussive Arts Society International 42 PAN PIPES WINTER 2012 sai-national.org Convention world music planning committee, and is endorsed by Vic Firth, Inc., Pearl, and Coyle Steel Drums. His compositions and arrangements for steel band and percussion ensembles are published by Drop 6 Media and Coyle Steel Drums, and Pan Ramajay productions. Dr. Marcos Krieger Dr. Marcos Krieger was initiated as a National Arts Associate by the Sigma Omega Chapter in December. Dr. Krieger is a keyboard artist with extensive training in early music and early keyboard technique. While pursuing his Doctoral Degree, Krieger studied the keyboard literature of central Germany. He expanded his repertoire by further studies in Spain, Italy, and Germany, exploring the Iberian and Italian repertoire and technique for early keyboards. A citizen of Brazil and of Germany, Krieger was raised in the Brazilian Amazon region, where his parents are missionaries to the Xerente tribe. He started his musical training at the Music Conservatory of the Universidade Federal de Goiás in Brazil. After further studies in Germany, he relocated to the United States, and received his Master's Degree from Brigham Young University and his Doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Krieger has performed solo organ and harpsichord recitals in Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Canada, and the U.S. In addition to his solo organ and harpsichord recitals, he often performs with early music ensembles, having played continuo for all the major orchestral and choral works of J.S. Bach and Heinrich Schütz, among others. He is also an active musicologist and ethnomusicologist, having produced works on the Christian hymnology of the Xerente Tribe, Portuguese Lyrical Diction and early music treatises related to keyboard repertoire. His book An English Translation and Commentary on Andreas Werckmeister's Organum Gruningense Redivivum was released in November 2009 by VDM-Verlag, Saarbrücken, Germany. Donald McCullough Donald McCullough was initiated as a National Arts Associate by the Volusia County Alumnae Chapter in November. McCullough holds Bachelor's Degrees in Organ and Vocal performance from Stetson University and Master's Degrees in Sacred Music and Vocal Performance from Southern Methodist University. He has enjoyed critical success as both a choral conductor and a McCullough composer. His conducting experience includes a variety of groups, from high school choirs to the Master Chorale of Washington. He also founded two organizations that continue to thrive today – the Virginia Symphony Chorus and the Virginia Chorale, the state's only fully professional choral ensemble. McCullough's compositions range from material for middle and high school choruses and churches to extended commissioned works for large, established choral ensembles. The Washington Post hailed McCullough for "his dazzling expertise on the podium," naming him one of America's preeminent choral conductors. During his tenure with the Master Chorale of Washington, McCullough has conducted sixteen world premieres and led the chorale on two international tours, one at the invitation of German and Polish officials for Europe's commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII. McCullough regularly appears as a clinician and guest conductor for high school festivals, community and professional choirs and choral festivals, and also for such organizations as the American Guild of Organists, the American Choral Directors Association, and the regular conferences of church music national organizations. Dr. John V. Sinclair Dr. John V. Sinclair was initiated as a National Arts Associate by the Lambda Iota Chapter at Rollins College in October 2010. Dr. Sinclair is the John M. Tiedtke Professor of Music at Rollins College and serves as Chair of the Department of Music.  He recently celebrated his 20th season as Artistic Director and Conductor of the renowned Bach Festival Society of Winter Park and is the conductor of the International Moravian Music Festivals.
