fraternity awards 2011 Col l e g iat e Ser v i ce Awa r d R e ci pi e n t s Category I (1-20 Members) Category II (21-35 Members) ambda Phi Chapter, at the University of MassachusettsAmherst in Phi B Province, cleaned and organized the entire Wind Band Music Library at UMA. The chapter created a digital catalogue of all the music using File Maker Pro and sorted through over 50 drawers of music, with 25-35 pieces in each, entering title, composer, publisher, date, and publication into the program. This project was completed despite setbacks involving a computer crash and the loss of their backup file, which required the re-entry of 15 drawers worth of music. The directors of the wind ensemble, symphony band, and concert band are very excited and grateful for this project . ota Phi, at Vanderbilt University in Psi B Province, spearheaded a province-wide service project which supported the Nashville Symphony Orchestra after the flood damage and destruction in May 2010 to the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Work involved six Saturday events over six months, where members made phone calls for the NSO marketing campaign to secure pledges and donations for flood relief and music education programs. Members also participated in the NSO's instrument petting zoo for the Pied Piper Children Concert Series. The province helped to raise nearly $4000 for the NSO and the Iota Phi chapter made an additional $500 contribution with their own fundraising. Category III (36+ Members) No Recipient Nat io nal Co l l e g i at e T REASURER ' S AWARD Jo rda n Urecki s Belmont Universit y, Ep silon Lam b d a , P si B , R eg ion VII ordan Ureckis, an initiate of the Epsilon Lambda Chapter, is the recipient of the 2011 National Outstanding Collegiate Treasurer Award. After serving three semesters as chapter treasurer, Jordan was nominated by her chapter, described as having a "savvy business mind." During the 2010-2011 year, Jordan worked closely with the faculty advisor and VP Membership to coordinate finances of the chapter's 24 members-intraining, in addition to overseeing chapter member finances and fundraisers. In her time as the treasurer for Epsilon Lambda, she encouraged the chapter to give $950 to SAI Philanthropies, Inc., while also supporting local philanthropic organizations. During her collegiate years, Jordan had the opportunity to study in New York City, was involved in Belmont University's Copyright Society, and was an orientation leader. Jordan graduated from Belmont University in May 2011 with a bachelor's degree in music business. National O u t stand i n g A d v i so r Awa r d R e ci pi e n t D r. Krist en Han sen Lam b d a Sigma , Columbus State U niver sit y, Tau C, R eg ion VI octor Kristen Hansen, an advisor of the Lambda Sigma Chapter at Columbus State University in Tau C Province, is this year's recipient of the National Outstanding Advisor Award. Dr. Hansen holds a DMA and MM in Horn Performance and Literature from Eastman and a BM from St. Olaf College. She was previously the director of high school and middle school bands in the Fonda-Fultonville district in New York. With cooperation of the CSU Horn Studio, Dr. Hansen has hosted the Southeast Horn Workshop, as well as the International Horn Competition of America. She performs regular recitals, including a popular "Music and Tea" series, and holds the position of second horn 28 PAN PIPES FALL 2011sai-national.org in the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Hansen is currently engaged in writing a theory text and in Spring 2010 was given an Excellence in the Teaching of Writing Award at CSU. Dr. Hansen suggested and helped the Lambda Sigma chapter organize a community outreach program, which involved hosting a Christmas mitten tree for a local women's shelter. The chapter members wrote that she is an honest advisor, who is always available to listen and share her delicious rose cake or a box of tissues. She is a great motivator and encourages the chapter to excel throughout year. An outstanding role model for SAIs and all Schwob School of Music students, Dr. Hansen gives her absolute best in all that she does.
