fraternity awards 2011 N at io nal Alu m nae cha pt e r achi e v e m e n t Awa r d N e w York A lum na e Phi B Province, R eg ion VIII he New York Alumnae Chapter had an outstanding year. Under the leadership of Michelle Ingram, chapter president, they fulfilled all of the National Objectives and responsibilities of a chartered chapter of SAI. Their largest fundraiser of the year raised over $1,686 for SAI Philanthropies, Inc. through a Benefit Concert featuring Member Laureate Dr. Emily White. The chapter was also able to give $924 for a purchase of Suzuki chimes through People-to-People for a new music school on the Turks and Caicos islands, located just south of the Bahamas. Finally they gave $1,000 for the Music Education Outreach Grant and helped the Phi B Province reach its goal for this cause. At the local level, they gave $300 to Turtle Bay Music School of NYC which has fostered love and knowledge of music for children since 1925 by providing high quality musical instruction and a range of related music programs and activities to motivated students of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of ability. The chapter has worked closely with Turtle Bay over the years by donating both time and money to this worthy organization. The chapter had a strong focus on effective communications this year. Formats included conference calls for the executive board and liaisons with each of the area collegiate chapters. Members of the New York Alumnae Chapter and Eta Mu, a finalist for the National Collegiate Chapter Achievement Award.
