OPPORTUNITIES SAI PHILANTHROPIES INC. SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS Deadline: March 1, 2011 Impact Grants Since 1985, SAI Philanthropies, Inc. has offered matching grants to college and university music departments in cooperation with the resident Sigma Alpha Iota chapter or a group of chapters. The yearly allocation of up to $15,000 will fund several Impact Grant projects. In no instance will the Impact Grant be awarded for more than half the total cost of the project. Matching resources provided by the school may be in money and/or in-kind contributions. Deadline: March 15, 2011 Career Performance Grant An annual grant of $5,000 will be awarded to a member of Sigma Alpha Iota for the purpose of advancing her career in performance. in 2011, the program, open to singers and instrumentalists, calls for performers of Strings, Woodwinds and Brass. Dissertations are acceptable in Music Education, Music Therapy, Musicology, Ethnomusicology, Theory, Psychology of Music, or Applied Research including Performance or Pedagogy. International Study Grant for Graduate Students The International Study Grant for Graduate Students is an annual grant for music studies outside the United States for initiated members of Sigma Alpha Iota pursuing advanced studies beyond the bachelor's degree. The purpose of the grant is designed to provide a student with the invaluable experience gained through living and studying in a foreign country. The degree emphasis may also include Music Marketing, Music Business Administration, Entertainment Industry, Commercial Music, Music Management, Recording Industry or other related fields. One scholarship for $2,000 will be applied directly to recipient's tuition for program/school. Musicians with Special Needs Scholarship The Musicians with Special Needs Scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to a member enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in music with a qualifying disability or to someone pursuing studies to become a teacher or therapist in this field. Scholarships will be applied directly to recipient's tuition for program/school. Summer Music Scholarships Summer Music Scholarships will assist members who will attend recognized summer programs of music study in the United States or abroad. Ten scholarships, up to $1,000 each, will be will be applied directly to recipient's tuition for program/school in US dollars. Note: Hazel E. Ritchey Loan Fund is also available for low interest loans of up to $2,500. Undergraduate Scholarships Music Education Scholarship for Graduate Students This scholarship is sponsored by the Oak Park Alumnae Chapter, in memory of Mabel Biever. A scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to a member of SAI who has completed an undergraduate degree in music and has been accepted into or is continuing in an accredited graduate program leading to a masters or doctoral degree in music education. Scholarships will be applied directly to recipient's tuition for program/school. Music Therapy Scholarship One $1,500 scholarship is available to an undergraduate or graduate member of Sigma Alpha Iota who has successfully completed a minimum of two years approved training toward a degree in music therapy. Musical Theater Scholarship The Musical Theater Scholarship are for college-initiated SAIs. The scholarship must be applied toward study leading to a music degree with an emphasis in musical theater.
