0 1 S 20 ARD Category I (1-20) Members Theta Psi , at Loyola University-New Orleans in Omega C Province, raised money for the Theta Psi Grant in order to award money to a local school music program in need. This year the chapter awarded $2000 to the Miller-McCoy Academy for Mathematics and Business in New Orleans to start a music program. y AW collegi ate service projec t awards fra n ter it Alpha , at the University of Michigan in Alpha A Province, hosted a Girl Scout Day in March to help a local Brownie troop earn their music achievement badges. The chapter demonstrated many musical instruments, shared music from around the world, brought them to a string-quartet concert, helped them make shakers, and did interactive dances with them. Category II (21-35 Members) Pi, at Drake University in Xi B Province, held a day of music in March for children in grades 1-5 with the theme "A Musical Trip through Fairytales." Attendees were placed in groups and had the opportunity to experience three different musical stations: the Instrumental Castle (instrument families); Ring Around the Round Table (dance); and Sorcerer's Song (singing). After a free lunch and recess, students made their own instruments during craft time, including guitars, shakers, kazoos, and castanets. The day ended with students performing songs and dances from the musical stations for their parents, and the Pi chapter performing Pan in Canon and the SAI Chorale. Eta Omicron, at the University of Nevada-Reno in Delta B Province, started a babysitting program during rehearsals and concerts for the Reno Wind Symphony. Money raised made it possible for the chapter to offer four scholarships for students in grades 6-12 to attend the Lake Tahoe Music Camp. Students wrote an essay as an application and were chosen based on need, musicianship, and teacher recommendations. Lambda Alpha, at East Tennessee State University in Psi A Province, held a Music Day Camp for Big Brothers, Big Sisters in Kingsport, TN. Children, ranging in ages from 5-13, learned about music through the ages and how it changed over the years. Lambda Alpha sisters dressed in period clothing, taught rhythm, dances, and music of each era, and helped students make their own instruments with combs. Students also learned a few notes on the recorder, performed songs for their parents, and took home their very own recorder. Category III (36+ Me mbers) Alpha Iota , at the University of Oklahoma in Zeta B Province, collaborated with the members of their Collegiate Interfraternity Music Council (Phi Mu Alpha, Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, and CMENC) to host a Haiti Relief Concert. The organizations got local businesses to sponsor the event, held a t-shirt fundraiser, and organized a large benefit concert with local and national artists. All combined, the group raised over $4000 for the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. National A lu m n a e Le a d er sh ip Awa rd G G ER A LDINE BA R R ETTO-sIMS Boston Alumnae Chapter, Phi B Province, Region VIII eraldine Barretto-Sims is an initiate of Lambda Chapter at New England Conservatory, from which she received her B.M. & M.M. degrees. She has held many offices in the Boston Alumnae Chapter, including President, and has served on numerous committees.  As a professional soprano, she is well known in the New England area, having sung with the Opera Company of Boston, the Providence Opera Theater, Artist's International, Boston Lyric Theater, and the National Opera Company.  She also performed with many orchestras including the Boston Symphony, the Boston Pops, and the Salem Philharmonic. Gerri was on the Board of Governors of the American Guild of Musical Artists and chairman for the Natick Cultural Council. She has also served on various committees for the General Federation of Women's Clubs. Gerri is also a recipient of the Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, Rose of Dedication, and the Ring of Excellence.  Her service to the fraternity includes Region IV Summer Music Scholarship Director, Radio and TV Committee, 1992 National Search Committee for an Executive Director, co-chairman of the Century Drive, and serving on the Member Laureate Distinguished Membership committee. She was Eta Province Vice President, Phi Province President from 1961-1973, and National Vice President, Alumnae Chapters from 1990-2000.
