MUSIC NOTES Jordheim Receives Fulbright Award A lisa Jordheim of the University of Cincinnati has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarship to Norway in Area Studies, the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced recently. Jordheim is one of more than 1,700 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad for the 2013-2014 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential. A native of Appleton, WI, Xi initiate Alisa Suzanne Jordheim is currently the resident soprano Studio Artist with Florentine Opera in Milwaukee, WI. She is a member of the Cincinnati Alumnae Chapter and Sword of Honor recipient. She was awarded the 2010 SAI Career Performance Grant for Voice and 2011 SAI Doctoral Grant. Her article "Pursuing an Operatic Career in America" appeared in the Winter 2013 PAN PIPES. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The primary source of funding for the Fulbright Program is an annual appropriation made by the U.S. Congress to the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. As you may have realized, the latest directory you are using was printed in 2003, as Sigma Alpha Iota celebrated the 100th anniversary. We have partnered with Harris Connect again to produce the Sigma Alpha Iota 110th Anniversary Edition Member Today, a publication that will feature current member listings along with photos and essays submitted by members. 6 PAN PIPES Fall 2013 sai-national.org I n the next few weeks, SAI members will receive notices in the mail about the process of updating contact information. Harris Connect will also be using staff to send e-mails and make phone calls. They will be standing by, ready to talk with you and correct any of your information. We invite all members to participate in this project so that our information will be accurate and up-do-date. M embers will also be given the opportunity to purchase an updated directory, either in hard copy or as a digital version.
