Website: jobs.musicalamerica.com Performance Residency Distinguished Concerts International New York is accepting auditions for an opportunity to perform Gwyneth Walker's choral music for women's voices in New York City's Lincoln Center of the Performing Arts. This residency will take place over Thanksgiving Weekend, Nov. 27-29, 2014. Elizabeth Núñez, Associate Conductor of the Young People's Chorus New York City, will conduct the music of Gwyneth Walker in this performance. Gwyneth Walker will be the Composer-in-Residence for this weekend, and during the three-day residency, singers will participate in intensive rehearsals with Mrs. Núñez. This performance will feature New York City's Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and the Distinguished Concerts Singers International, a choir comprised of auditioned choral ensembles and individuals from across the world. High quality women's choirs or individual singers are invited to apply to be part of the Distinguished Concerts Singers International for this performance. Website: dciny.org First International Jean Sibelius Composition Competition The first International Jean Sibelius Composition Competition is organized as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of Finland's most prestigious composer. The aim of the competition is to gain new, high-quality repertoire for choirs, pianists and violinists. The competition is open to all composers regardless of nationality. There is no age limit. The competition has three categories: choir; solo piano; solo violin; or for violin–piano duos. Deadline: Sept. 30, 2014 Website: sibelius150.fi/ compositioncompetition XV International Competition The purpose of the contest is the composition of 3 short unpublished pieces for Duos (violin and piano, viola and piano, cello and piano), each of which cannot exceed 7 minutes. Each composer has to send 3 pieces for the 3 ensembles mentioned above (one for each ensemble). Open to composers of all nationalities under the age of 40 as on Dece. 31,2014. The prize is $9,500 (US). Deadline: Sept. 30, 2014 Website: composerssite.com/opportunity/4945 2015 Verdehr Trio Composition Competition The competition is open to composers, clarinetists, and musicians who desire to further the repertoire of the clarinet with an original composition for trio for clarinet, violin, and piano. The prize is $5,000. The submitted work must have no prior performances. A score must be provided. A MIDI realization of the work is optional. The winning composition will receive a world premiere performance during ClarinetFest 2015, July 25-29, 2015 in Madrid. Free registration at ClarinetFest 2015 will be provided. If the winner is a clarinetist, he/she must be a member of the International Clarinet Association. Works must utilize the human voice, whether in spoken word form, as a sound effect, reading text, in a recorded, manipulated style, or any other fashion which incorporates the voice into a chamber music setting. Deadline: Feb. 7, 2015 Website: leftcoastensemble.org/composition- contest Church Music Search Call for Scores This annual and international church music contest calls authors and composers to create congregational hymns, choral anthems and orchestral music that engage and exclaim liberal Christian theology and associated themes. The 2015 Search is for an SATB Choral Anthem suitable for Adult Choirs with Keyboard Accompaniment (Organ or Piano). Other optional instrumental parts may be included. The anthem should express the meaning and celebration of Easter from a theologically-liberal viewpoint.
