He is a member of both the IUP Woodwind Forum and the Hoodlebug Brass. He is also a member of the Keystone Wind En- semble with whom he has recorded almost a dozen CDs. Dr. Scandrett retired from IUP at the end of the 2013-2014 academic year. julie rulyak steinberg Julie Rulyak Steinberg was initiated by the New York Alumnae Chapter in March. Since 2012, she has served as the Executive Director of Turtle Bay Music School, annually serving more than 4,000 New Yorkers of all ages and abili- ties with year-round, free and low-cost music programs. She previously served as the School's Development and Marketing Director. She acted as Managing Director of Cynthia Glacken Asso- ciates, a leader in not-for-profit communications strategy and design. Steinberg trained with ird Street Music School Settlement and the National Guild for Community Arts Education while developing curriculum for a Community Music Education Master's Degree Program at New York University under the supervision on Dr. David Elliott. She is the Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the New York City Master Chorale and a member of the Board of the New York City Arts in Education Roundtable. jim stephenson Jim Stephenson was initiated by the Evanston Alumnae Chapter in October. He is Composer-in-Residence with the Lake Forest (IL) Symphony. His works have been performed by leading American orchestras and around the world. Recent Stephenson premieres include two new violin concertos performed by the Minnesota Orchestra and the Rhode Island Phil- harmonic. His 2nd trumpet concerto has been performed on five continents since its premiere in Australia by Rex Richardson in 2010. His educational work, Compose Yourself!, has now been per- formed over 250 times since its creation in 2002, and will see performances by five more orches- tras this season as well. Also active as a highly sought-aer arranger, Stephenson's arrangements have been performed, recorded, and broad- cast by virtually every major orchestra in the country, including the Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops, and the New York Pops. Before moving to Lake Forest as a full-time composer/conductor, Stephenson spent 17 seasons with the Naples (FL) Philharmonic as a trumpeter, a position he won immediately upon graduating from the New England Conservatory of Music. leroy l. stoner LeRoy L. Stoner was initiated by the Mil- waukee Alumnae Chapter in September. Stoner is Associate Professor at University of Wiscon- sin-Milwaukee and Chairman of the eater Department. Besides supporting theater arts, he has sung in choirs and as a soloist since his youth. Ensembles include the Wabash College Glee Club, the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus, Master Singers of Milwaukee and various church choirs. He also volunteered with the Madison Scouts Drum Corps as a bus driver for up to 6 weeks a summer and weekends during the year. He joins a family of SAIs including his mother Margery Winter Dodds, father-in-law Roderick Dodds, wife Martha Dodds Stoner, daughter Carolyn Dodds Stoner, niece Emily Dodds Stoner, and sister-in-law Joanne Dodds Erwin. richard sultner Richard Sultner was initiated by the Eta Tau Chapter in April. Mr. Sultner spent nearly forty years as a music educator in the York City School District. Mr. Sultner has served as church organist for churches in the York, PA, area and is currently the organist at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He is also a former member of the American Guild of Organists. Sultner is an avid performer and supporter of the arts at the local and national level. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Messiah Col- lege, and later a Master's Equivalency from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore and Penn State University in York, PA. robert lee tucker Dr. Robert Lee Tucker was initiated by the Gamma Phi Chapter in April. Dr. Tucker is Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Hardin-Simmons University. Tucker received a Bachelor's Degree of Music from Hardin-Simmons University, a Master's of Music from the University of Cincinnati, a Doctorate of Philosophy from Texas Tech University, and a Master's of Business Administration from Howard Payne University. He has performed with a number of ensembles including the Richmond Symphony, Cincinnati Chamber Symphony, and the Abilene Philhar- monic. Tucker's wide range of interests and expe- rience has resulted in published articles speaking engagements, published compositions, commis- sions, and opportunities for overseas travel and teaching. His recent book, Like a Crown: Adven tures in Autism, discusses the joys and challenges of raising an autistic child. He currently serves as president of the Texas Association of Music Schools. john villella John Villaella was initiated by the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter in April. Villella is the Associate Dean for the College of Visual and Performing Arts. He coordinates curriculum, advising, assessment, faculty development, the performance calendar, equipment, and budget for the College. Prior to this appointment he was the chairperson of the Applied Music Department, conductor of the wind ensemble, and director of the symphonic, concert, and marching bands. Additionally, he served in Music Education as a professor of instrumental methods and supervisor of student teachers. Dr. Villella is the President of Vivace Productions, Inc., the national leader of summer camps, including Band Leadership Training and the Marching Band and Band Front Workshops. He frequently serves as a guest conductor, adjudicator, guest lecturer, and director of music festivals in the United States, Canada and Europe. Chandler Wilson Chandler Wilson was initiated by the Kappa Beta Chapter in May. Wilson came to Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a graduate assistant in conducting in 2012 and graduated in May 2014. He is founder of the IUP Pep Band, the featured musical ensemble for school basketball games. He has composed and arranged over 36 different ensembles, ranging from elementary school to the professional level, which travel along the East Coast. He previously served as Director of Bands for Hollywood Hills (FL) High School and Associate Conductor for the Broward (FL) Symphonic Band. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Florida A & M University and is pursuing a Master's in Wind Conducting from IUP. dIstInGuIsHed MeMbers Scandrett Stephenson Stoner
