He earned his Bachelor's of Music Education from Florida State University and his Master's in Saxophone Performance from University of South Florida. Gregory Hurley Gregory Hurley was initiated by the Beta Psi Chapter in February. Hurley is associate professor of music education at East Carolina University where he teaches courses in instrumental (strings) and general music education at the undergraduate and graduate levels and supervises student teachers. He has performed with the Greeley, CO, Philharmonic Orchestra as principal violist and served as editor of the String Syllabus, a publication of the American String Teachers Association. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of String Research and sits on state and regional boards for American String Teachers Association with National String Orchestra Association. He also headed the UNC String Project. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, his Master's from University of Texas, and a Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin. ronald Ishoy Ronald Ishoy, father of Fort Lauderdale Alumnae Chapter member Amy Ishoy, was initiated in May by the Fort Lauderdale Alumnae Chapter. Supported and encouraged by his father, a professional jazz trumpet player in Chicago, he studied music early in life and continued playing music throughout high school and college. He is a local composer and musician, having produced successful musical parody shows in Fort Lauderdale while working as a writer and editor at e Miami Herald. laura kruilkowski Laura Kruilkowski was initiated by the Kap- pa Beta Chapter in May. Krulikowski is a very vital part of the music department at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is currently the librarian technician. She earned a Bachelor's De- gree in Political Science from St. Vincent College, a Master's in History from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and a Master's in Library Science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She serves on the IUP Museum Board of Directors, as well as a number of university committees Colin lett Colin Lett was initiated by the Kappa Xi Chapter in April. A native of Selma, AL, Lett holds a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Music from Morgan State University, a Master's of Divin- ity from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of eology at Virginia Union University, and a Master's in Choral Conducting. Colin has four musical arrangements in circulation in the African American Church Music Series of GIA Publications, Inc. He is conductor and founder of the Colin Lett Chorale. Colin is also founder of Micoustic Music Press. Colin is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Alpha Phi Alpha Fra- ternity Inc. In service to the arts, Colin has held free performances to benefit clubs and churches. He has also been invited to elementary schools to speak to young people about majoring in music. john levey Dr. John Levey was initiated by the Kappa Beta Chapter in May. Dr. Levey is assistant professor of Composition and Music eory at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor's in Composition from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, a Master's in Composi- tion from the University of Michigan, and a Doctorate in Composition and Music eory as a Regents Fellow at the University of Michigan. Dr. Levey's research focuses on art music of the 20th and 21st centuries, particularly serial and post-serial music. He has published in Music Analysis and is presently studying music by the late American composer Peter Lieberson. Performances of Dr. Levey's compositions have taken place in venues such as the Aspen Music Festival, Harvard University, Boston College, and Music07 Festival. anthony o'toole Anthony O'Toole was initiated by the Kappa Beta Chapter in May. O'Toole holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music eory & Composition from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is currently a Master's Student in Composition at George Mason. He has written more than 100 works for almost every medium and began writing music in his early teens. In particular, his band music has become popular and has been played by some of the finest ensembles including the University of North Texas Wind Symphony, e President's Own United States Marine Band, e Indiana University of Pennsylvania Wind Ensemble, and the United States Coast Guard Band. His band music and chamber music have been performed all over the country and interna- tionally in Canada, Australia, Tawain, Portugal, Britain, Brazil and Singapore. eryn violet oft Eryn Violet O was initiated by the eta Beta Chapter in April. O, a bassoonist, is the Professor of Double Reeds at Jacksonville State University, where she created Double Reed Day, an annual clinic that draws double reed players from many surrounding schools and communi- ties. She also teaches courses at JSU in music history, a subject she instructs using innovative methods to engage both the le and right brain that have proven successful in raising students' national test scores. She holds Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Bassoon Performance with a minor in Early Music from Indiana University. She is an avid performer with such ensembles as the Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Ballet, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony Or- chestra, and Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, among others. Paul robertson Paul Robertson was initiated by the eta Upsilon Chapter in February. An accomplished percussionist and educator, he is an Adjunct Professor and Program Assistant for the Music, Dance and eatre Department at New Jersey City University. He previously served as Adjunct Music faculty for Essex County College and Bergen County College. He also maintains a private studio. Robertson has toured the world as a percussionist with large ensembles and dis- played his support for the eta Upsilon chapter throughout the years with fundraisers, events, and recruiting. donna sammarco Donna Sammarco was initiated by the eta eta Chapter in May. Sammarco serves as Instructor of Music at Nicholls State University as well as performing piano regularly for various events and occasions on campus. Outside of the university, Sammarco has released her own solo piano CD, is currently the organist/ pianist for the First United Methodist Church of Houma, Louisiana, and is the accompanist for professional recitals within the local area. jack scandrett Dr. Jack Scandrett was initiated by the Kappa Beta Chapter in May. Scandrett joined the Indiana University of Pennsylvania faculty in 1980 as a part-time instructor in Horn. In 1981 he was appointed to a full-time permanent posi- tion teaching Horn and Music eory. A pioneer in using computer technology in teaching, he established the first computer lab in the Music Department in 1984 with soware for aural skills and composition.
