PAN PIPES • FALL 2015 • sai-national.org 6 2015-2018 NATIONAL EXECUTIVE BOARD NATIONAL PRESIDENT Dr. Leslie Odom Miller is beginning her second term as National President. She previously served the fraternity as National Vice President, Alumnae Chapters for two terms, National Vice President, Collegiate Chapters for one term, as Director of the SAI Listserv, and as Lambda B Province Officer. Leslie earned a Bachelor's of Music degree in Oboe Performance at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she was initiated into the Zeta Chapter of SAI. She also attended Eastman School of Music, where she earned a Master's of Music in Music eory and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Oboe Performance and Literature. Leslie is an Associate Professor of Oboe and Music eory at the University of Florida, and she is an active performer, playing principal oboe in the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra and abroad. She is a recipient of several honors for outstanding service to Sigma Alpha Iota, including the Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, Diamond Sword of Honor, and Ring of Excellence. "Sigma Alpha Iota has always been an important part of my life…As a third generation member, I joined as soon as I was eligible for membership…I prefer to meet problems and concerns head-on…I want to continue to reach out to alumnae members, encouraging them to pursue leadership roles, keep the fraternity up to date with current technology, and develop strategies for making leadership positions more efficient…" NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, ALUMNAE CHAPTERS Susan Bermann is in her second term as National Vice President, Alumnae Chapters. She served the fraternity as National Vice President, Membership from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that she served as Lambda A Province Officer from 1990 to 1997 and again from 2006 to 2009. Sue is a graduate of the University of Miami, where she earned a Bachelor's of Music in Music History, and University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she earned a Master's of Library Science degree. She has served as chapter president several times: in her collegiate chapter, Sigma Chi, as well as in Bloomington, Knoxville, and Fort Lauderdale Alumnae Chapters. Sue is a recipient of the Sword of Honor, Ruby Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, and Rose of Dedication. She works as a cataloging manager for Palm Beach County Library System. "I believe my experience on the board, as both NVP, Membership and NVP, Alumnae Chapters has given me insight into our alumnae membership. We have such diversity in our alumnae chapters. Recruiting and retaining our members is of utmost priority…Membership in our National Alumnae Association, which is open to all alumnae members, helps keep our fraternity strong." NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, COLLEGIATE CHAPTERS Dr. Jessica Chichester began her service as National Vice President, Collegiate Chapters in January 2014 and will begin serving her first full term this triennium. Prior to that she served as Region 8 Regional Officer from 2008 to 2013 and Chi A Province Officer from 2003 to 2009. Jessica, a Sigma Omega initiate, earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biochemistry from Susquehanna University and then pursued a Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology from omas Jefferson University. She works as a Senior Scientist at the Fraunhofer Center for Molecular Biotechnology. She is the recipient of several SAI honors: the Sword of Honor, Ruby Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, and Wreath of Achievement. "Active leadership involvement in Sigma Alpha Iota has allowed me to keep my passion for music alive in a career full of scientific experiments. It's the balance I need to keep me grounded… Policies, ideas, and realities are constantly changing. As part of the NEB, we need to embrace that change, listen to our members and our leaders and coordinate efforts to ensure that we stay focused on the purposes of this organization…I wish to play an active role in shaping a new generation of leaders at the collegiate level…" NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, EXTENSION Beth A. Lopez served as Gamma B Province Officer from 2009 to 2015. She was Chairman of the National Convention in Chicago in 2009 and has held several offices in her alumnae chapter, including president. Beth, a Nu Chapter initiate at Millikin University, earned a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in Music Education from DePaul University. She is Marketing Coordinator for Exemplar Financial Network, works as a freelance pianist, and has served as secretary of her school district's Board of Education. Beth has received the Sword of Honor and Rose of Honor. "e job of NVP, Extension for Sigma Alpha Iota plays well to my strengths and experience both in the Fraternity and in my professional life…I have a great understanding of the need for long term strategic planning and also an excellent working knowledge of the Fraternity…It would be my goal to continue the positive growth of Sigma Alpha Iota in both the collegiate and alumnae chapters…" NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, FINANCE Jennifer M. Zerangue is beginning her third term as National Vice President, Finance. She was initiated into Iota Omicron at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she earned a Bachelor's in Accounting degree and a Master's of Business Administration. She served Iota Omicron as chapter president and Lafayette Alumnae Chapter as Vice President, Ritual. Prior to being elected National Vice President, National Officers Elected At Convention
