PAN PIPES • FALL 2016 • sai-national.org 24 2 0 1 6 F R A T E R N I T Y A W A R D S National Collegiate Leadership Award STEPHANIE ESPIE University of Delaware, Eta Rho, Chi A, Region VIII National Collegiate Leadership Award Regional Finalists T he annual selection of the fraternity's National Collegiate Leadership Award, given to a recipient of the Sword of Honor, is based on four criteria: • Qualities of leadership expressed in the member's sense of organization and her ability to work well with chapter members, advisors, and faculty • Fraternity service in terms of chapter offices held, committee chairmanships, performance on chapter musicales, cooperation in chapter activities, and national fraternity viewpoint • Campus activities in terms of student organization participation, offices held outside of the fraternity, and general campus honors • Maintenance of a high scholarship level e NEB is proud to announce the 2015-16 recipient is Stephanie Espie, who displayed outstanding leadership during her terms as Treasurer and Vice President Membership for the Eta Rho chapter at the University of Delaware. Her efforts to reorganize the position of Treasurer for Eta Rho were recognized by her university, which awarded her with the "YoUDee Leadership Award" for Outstanding Greek Treasurer. During her term as VP Membership, Stephanie trained and initiated a total of thirty-five Members-in- Training, twenty-eight of which were in the same MIT class. Stephanie welcomed this challenge as a new adventure and revamped the training process to provide more flexibility in scheduling while enhancing sisterhood bonds. roughout her time at the University of Delaware, Stephanie participated in a variety of organizations, ensembles, and honor societies. is included work she did in her community as a marching band instructor and as an early childhood instructor for Music for Young Minds, part of a community music school run by her university. In the words of her chapter, "e chapter is humbled to have a sister as beautiful, hardworking, dedicated and extraordinary as Stephanie. Eta Rho will miss her terribly but knows that no matter where she goes in life, her work in the fraternity will continue as an alumnae member."
