The chapter strived to fulfill the National Objectives this year by strengthening their sisterhood, presenting well-rehearsed memorized ritual ceremonies, enhancing chapter productivity, meeting local and national obligations, and increasing service at both the university and community levels. Beta Beta held multiple service projects throughout the year for their university. These included assisting with the renovation of their school's music library, providing behind the scenes support to the university's large ensemble and marching band festivals, cleaning practice rooms, and facilitating student tours for the School of Music auditions. Additional service projects in their community included a Thanksgiving can drive, participating in Relay for Life, and promoting music education through an instrument petting zoo. They also strengthened relationships with the Lawrence Alumnae and Patroness Chapter and participated in the alumnae chapter's Young Person Solo Festival. This chapter consists of hardworking, dedicated, energetic young women who continue to impress with their close, supportive sisterhood and their extensive service project portfolio. Carol Hare, Faculty Advisor for the Eta Epsilon chapter, is this year's recipient of the National Outstanding Advisor Award. Mrs. Hare joined the staff at Missouri Western State University, Department of Music in 2007 and is currently the Executive Administrative Associate for the university's Financial Planning and Administration department. She volunteered to become the advisor to the Eta Epsilon chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota in 2008. Under her guidance for the past eight years, the chapter has grown from three to twenty members, maintained a positive financial statement, increased participation in philanthropic projects, and held annual training and planning retreats. In 2014, the Eta Epsilon chapter initiated Mrs. Hare as a Patroness. In the application for this award, Eta Epsilon chapter president Marissa Sunderland wrote, "Mrs. Hare is our cheerleader. She is our inspiration and is a true supporter of our fraternity. Somehow she manages to get to know every member on a personal level and cares deeply about each and every one of us." Mrs. Hare's performance as an advisor was also recognized by her university community when she received the 2015-2016 Outstanding Faculty Advisor for an Organization Award at Missouri Western State University. The breadth of Mrs. Hare's support for our organization was illustrated when she traveled to St. Louis to attend the 2015 SAI National Convention with three Eta Epsilon members, providing transportation, gas money, and sisterly support. Eta Epsilon recognized Mrs. Hare's contributions to their chapter by awarding her with the Patroness Sword of Honor in 2016. In the words of the chapter, "Perhaps Mrs. Hare's greatest contribution to Eta Epsilon is her ability to evoke professionalism. She makes it know to members that we must hold ourselves to high standards when interacting with others. She provides us with a shining example of that professionalism."
