He taught in Richardson, Texas, from 1977 to 1981. His family worked in music instrument repair and taught private lessons. Aer his parents' death, Mark continued his family's business. For 35 years, Williamson Music 1st has served north and northeast Texas. An exhibitor at Texas Music Educators annual conventions, he is also a member of Texas Orchestra Directors Association and e Texas Bandmasters Association. He served on the board of the Richardson Symphony Orchestra and the Richardson Chamber of Commerce. Mark established the Glen and Mary Williamson Scholarship Fund, which has given instruments to over 200 students. Dr. Gail Zugger Dr. Gail Zugger was initiated as a Friend of the Arts in October by the Kappa Tau Chapter at Ohio's Capital University-Conservatory of Music. A clarinetist and teacher, Dr. Zugger joined the faculty at Capital University's Conservatory of Music in 1999. She has appeared as a soloist with the Capital University/Bexley Community Orchestra, Westerville Community Band, Westerville Symphony Orchestra, and Capital University Symphonic Winds, and performed in recital at the 2012 and 1998 International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest conferences. With fellow Capital faculty member Dr. Lisa Jelle, Dr. Zugger formed the Inspirare Duo, which recently commissioned and premiered Mark Flugge's Tranquillo e Inspirare for flute, clarinet, and jazz piano. She is also a member of the Quintessential Winds, Capital's faculty woodwind quintet. Originally from Racine, Wisconsin, Dr. Zugger received the Graduate of Distinction award from Racine William Horlick High School in 2005. She holds a Bachelor's in Applied Clarinet from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master's and Doctorate in Clarinet Performance from e Ohio State University. Williamson DISTINGUISHED continued from page 29 Zugger DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS Margaret Blackburn 2017 Biennial Composition Competition A $1,000 grand prize will be awarded to the female student composer who submits the winning musical composition in the 2017 Biennial Blackburn Memorial Composition Competition, sponsored by the SAI Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or graduate music program for the 2016-17 academic year. Compositions should be for a small ensemble of no less than two instruments, which may include voice, and no more than twelve instruments, including voice. Works for instruments and electronic sounds, digital media, CD, interactive compositions, or works for electronic sounds alone can be included. No published scores will be accepted. An entry fee of $25 (U.S.) is required. Membership in Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) is not required. To enter, please use the application form available from Ms. McKelway.
