PAN PIPES • FALL 2017 • sai-national.org 20 SAI PHILANTHROPIES Partnering with the MacDowell colony to conduct a major renovation of Pan's Cottage, we are building a "virtual rose garden" by placing a red rose on the cottage drawing above for every $1,000 raised. We are well on our way to meeting the $100,000 goal by June 30, 2018, but still need your help. To date SAI Philanthropies has received almost $64,000 in gifts and pledges. Be sure that you are doing your part! What can you do to support the Pan's Cottage Campaign efforts? • Hold chapter fundraisers – photos of chapters that donate will appear on the national website; • Match pledges made by Regional or Province Officers; • Donate an individual minimum gift of $25, matching Delta Chapter's 1916 request to the National Convention; • Speak about the MacDowell Colony and Pan's Cottage at Province Days; • Read quarterly PAN PIPES for Pan's Cottage Campaign articles. Thank you for helping Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies make the Pan's Cottage Campaign a success! T he resources of Sigma Alpha Iota were rallied early in its development to support the efforts of the MacDowell Colony. ough there were just eleven collegiate chapters at that time, the 1916 National Convention voted to build Pan's Cottage at the Colony. is was no small undertaking and required a good deal of dedication on the part of its members and chapters. Spurred on by the dedication of the colony's founder, Marian MacDowell, which was openly displayed during her 1,000 piano lecture recitals of Edward MacDowell's music in some 400 cities and towns of the United States, the 1916 National Convention vote became a reality in 1918. Aer construction had begun, and development of a new funding plan in September 1919, individual chapters undertook the task of raising $90.00 each to complete the Cottage. Our SAI chapters are still showing their dedication today, through their efforts to help the Fraternity reach its current Pan's Cottage Campaign goal. eir support has been made evident by their contributions thus far.
