Fall 2018 4 PAN PIPES LESLIE ODOM MILLER, DMA NATIONAL PRESIDENT Leslie Odom Miller is beginning her third term as National President. She previously served the fraternity as National Vice President, Alumnae Chapters for two terms (2006-2012); National Vice President, College Chapters for one term (1997-2000); as Director of the SAI Listserv; and as a Province Officer. Leslie earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Oboe Performance at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she was initiated into the Zeta Chapter of SAI. She also attended the Eastman School of Music, where she earned a Master of Music in Music eory and a Doctor of Music Arts in Oboe Performance. While at Eastman, she received the coveted Performer's Certificate. Leslie has performed extensively as a solo artist throughout North and South America and Europe. Leslie is Associate Professor of Oboe and Music eory at the University of Florida and plays principal oboe in the Gainesville Orchestra. She is a recipient of several honors for outstanding service to SAI: the Sword of Honor, the Rose of Honor, Region V Alumnae Leadership Diamond Sword of Honor, and the Ring of Excellence. She is a member of the International Double Reed Society, Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honorary, and an Honorary Member of Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi. Her solo CD, Scene Rustique, was released in June, 2016 by PARMA Recordings, LLC. JENNIE ROSS NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, ALUMNAE CHAPTERS Jennie Ross was a charter member of the Eta Xi chapter at Central Michigan University (CMU), where she earned a special education teaching degree with a focus on the emotionally impaired. While there, she studied tuba and marched in the CMU Marching Band for five years. Just before she was married, Jennie joined the Ann Arbor Alumnae Chapter, and she has held many of the chapter officer positions since, including Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and President. Jennie was the Alpha A Province Officer from 2006-2012, serving two terms, and is a 25 year member. She is the mother of four wonderful children and is celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary in October. Jennie continues to play her tuba in a Civil War re-enactment band, is active in her local community theatre, the Hartland Players, and is an active member of the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. JESSICA CHICHESTER NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, COLLEGIATE CHAPTERS Jessica was initiated into SAI by the Sigma Omega chapter at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA where she majored in Biochemistry and played the Euphonium in the Symphonic Band. Jessica's service to SAI began as president of her collegiate chapter for which she was awarded the Sword of Honor and Ruby Sword of Honor. Aer graduation, Jessica affiliated with the Selinsgrove Alumnae Chapter while pursuing her doctorate in Microbiology and Immunology at omas Jefferson University. While in graduate school, she was elected Chi A Province Officer, a position she served in for six years. Jessica was then appointed Region VIII officer by the National President and was very honored and excited to be a part of this new organizational structure within our fraternity. She was grateful for the opportunity to serve in this capacity for an additional six years. Jessica is currently serving her second full term as National Vice-President, Collegiate Chapters, a position that she is honored and humbled to hold. For her years of service, Jessica was awarded the Rose of Honor, Wreath of Achievement, and most recently the Ring of Excellence. She credits active leadership in Sigma Alpha Iota with allowing her to keep her passion for music alive in a career full of scientific experiments. Jessica currently lives in Glen Mills, PA and works for the Gene erapy Program at the University of Pennsylvania as the Associate Director of Immunology. She continues to play the Euphonium in community ensembles. 2018 NATIONAL CONVENTION New National Executive Board
