He has performed in several prestigious clinics and performances, including the Presidential Inaugural Ball, Summer Arts Academy at Moorhead State University, and clinics at the University of Santa Catarina in Santa Catarina, Brazil. He is a member of several music organizations, including the Kentucky Music Educators Association and Kentucky Association of Jazz Educators. Dr. David Harned Johnson Dr. David Harned Johnson was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Beta Rho Chapter at Georgia College in April. Dr. Johnson is a composer and violinist currently teaching at Georgia College. He has previously taught at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX, the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA, and Mercer University's Townsend School of Music in Macon, GA, where he was chair of theory and composition as well as concertmaster of the Macon Symphony Orchestra. He completed a Bachelor's in Violin Performance and Composition at the ornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. At Yale University, he earned a Master's in Composition and went on to receive a Doctorate in Composition from Indiana University. Johnson's original works for orchestra have been performed by the Macon Symphony Orchestra, the University of Arizona Philharmonic, the Lake Union Civic Orchestra in Seattle, the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Honduras. Johnson's original chamber music has been performed at many national conferences, including the National Flute Association, the North American Saxophone Alliance, and the International Double Reed Society. Dr. Gordon Jones Dr. Gordon Jones was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the eta Omega Chapter at Texas State University in April. Dr. Jones is a music educationalist, composer, and World Music practitioner. He is the current Musical Director of Gamelan Lipi Awan - Texas State University's Balinese gamelan ensemble. From the UK, he taught for many years at Dartington College of Arts, Devon, and then Northern College, Aberdeen, Scotland, before moving to Texas in 2001. He has composed many large-scale music-theatre works and musicals, in addition to choral and instrumental ensemble pieces. His interest in theatre and dance has led to many collaborations with other artists, over a 40-year period. His passion for World Music was ignited by being introduced to Balinese Gamelan music in his twenties. Over 25,000 people, mostly schoolchildren, have enjoyed the hands-on experience of Balinese gamelan under his tutelage. In addition to teaching in the School of Music and the Department of eatre and Dance at Texas State, he taught summer workshops for Austin Chamber Music Center and Austin Lyric Opera for many years. Vince Kenney Vince Kenney was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Pi Chapter at Drake University in April. Mr. Kenney teaches at Drake University as Assistant Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Low Brass, where he directs low brass studies and conducts the Drake University Symphonic Band, Marching Band, and Bulldog Brass. He is active performing as both a euphonium soloist and as a chamber musician. He has presented guest artist recitals at dozens of the finest universities and music conferences throughout the United States including the United States Army Band Tuba/Euphonium Workshop, the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Conference (TMEA), and the Eastman School of Music. As a member of the North Texas Euphonium Quartet, Kenney has also helped to establish the euphonium quartet as a viable chamber medium. A two-time finalist in the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium Solo Competition, he completed his Bachelor degrees in Music Performance and Education at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, his Master's in Euphonium Performance from the University of North Texas, and is currently finishing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Euphonium Performance at the same institution. Prior to his work at Drake, Vince served as the Director of Instrumental Music at North Central Texas College in Gainesville, Texas where he founded the NCTC Wind Ensemble. Dr. Jesse Krebs Dr. Jesse Krebs was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Epsilon Pi Chapter at Truman State University in April. Dr. Krebs joined the Truman State University music faculty as the clarinet instructor in 2005. In addition, he regularly teaches Perspectives in Jazz, Eighteenth-Century Counterpoint, and the Music and Political Protest Junior Interdisciplinary Seminar. Before coming to Kirksville, he was the Clarinet Instructor and the Director of Chamber Winds at Bainbridge College in Georgia, and he served on the summer faculty for the Cultural American Music Program in the Florida Keys. With colleague Dr. Xin Gao, he hosted the inaugural American Single Reed Summit at Truman in 2018. Krebs has performed guest recitals in Costa Rica, England, ailand, Ireland, and the United States. Dr. Krebs frequently performs as a substitute with the Kansas City Symphony and has been featured as a concerto soloist with the North Carolina, Central Florida, and Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestras. He has also played with the Tallahassee, Greensboro, Fayetteville, and Quincy Symphony Orchestras, and with the new music ensemble Alarm Will Sound. In 2002, he was one of three American semifinalists selected for the International Clarinet Association Young Artist Competition and competed in Stockholm, Sweden. He received a Doctorate in Clarinet Performance from Florida State University. He received a Master of Music from the University of North Texas, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Johnson Jones Kenney Krebs
