PAN PIPES Winter 2020 25 appliances. He has served on public school PTA boards for 18 years, along with volunteering with Meals on Wheels. He volunteered as an ROTC booster club parent for 8 years. He has also been inducted into Ashley High School's Eye of the Eagle Honor Society for his dedication to supporting public school communities. He has dedicated over 8 years of his life supporting local theater companies and high school musical theater productions by building sets, making costumes, and donating money to the programs. He enjoys photography, and has done professional photography for arts programs all throughout Wilmington. With his wife, he was also awarded Ashley High School Cross Country Parent Volunteers of the Year. He was an Ashley High School Booster Club Volunteer for 4 years. He also helps coordinate the Honor Flight Veteran trip to Washington, D.C. and serves as the professional photographer for that event. He enjoys supporting the arts, especially currently at UNC Greensboro, where his daughter Meghan attends school. Maureen Chinn Maureen Chinn was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Kappa Gamma Chapter at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in October. Maureen Chinn resides in Pawleys Island, SC, with her husband Dennis Chinn. She co-owns DC Service and Installs with her husband, where they travel between Wilmington, NC to Charleston, SC fixing appliances. She has an extensive history of supporting the arts. Her current volunteer passion includes supporting UNC Greensboro's music department, where her daughter Meghan attends school. Patricia Domin Patricia Domin was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Pontchartrain Alumnae Chapter in October. Patty holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Michigan and a Master of Music in French Horn Performance with Honors, from the University of Massachusetts, where she studied on a full scholarship. Aer graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Patty accepted a position with the Orquesta Filarmonica de Bogota, located in Bogata, Columbia and was a Profesora de Musica at the Universidad Nacional, Principle Horn with both the Orquesta Filarmonica de Bogota and the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional de Columbia and was a featured soloist and chamber artist. Domin also lived in Mexico for two years where she was Principle Horn with the Orquesta Sinfonia de Aguascalientes. Upon returning to the United States, she began her teaching career where she taught elementary music in both Westland and Plymouth-Canton schools for over 18-years. Patty recently retired from teaching in 2017 and now enjoys knitting, spending time with family and friends, attending a variety of musical performances and doting over her 6 grandchildren. As a new Friend of the Arts, Patty is now serving on the Rose Tea Party Fundraising Committee and is excited to be a part of the Pontchartrain chapter. Melinda Fradley Melinda Fradley was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Volusia County (FL) Alumnae Chapter. Fradley had been a well-known music teacher in the DeLand schools for the past 25 years, teaching music at three DeLand elementary schools, then, for the past 12 years, directing the choral music program at DeLand High School. Fradley holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Stetson University. During her time at the high school, the choral music program grew from 50 students to 250 students in three years. Her choirs were frequently invited to perform at choral festivals and professional conferences. She was recognized for her successes by being named Teacher of the Year at McInnis Elementary School in 1999 and DHS in 2014. Besides conducting eight ensembles at the high school every day, she spent ten years conducting the Apprentice Choir with the Stetson University Children's Choir. Shortly aer her initiation, Fradley le her job at DeLand High School for a new musical adventure in China. As a result of her having traveled to China in 2017 as part of the Festival Singers of Florida, a professional choir that makes a singing trip abroad every year, and receiving a recommendation from the conductor of the choir, Fradley was offered a three-month assignment at the City of Beijing University with all expenses paid. Her assignment was to teach both American music and American teaching methods to Chinese teachers. Aer returning from China, a new opportunity arose and she is now the Jeanne Faircloth Principal Conductor of the Savannah Children's Choir. Bradley continues her connection with the Festival Singers of Florida, serving as president. She is a member of NAf ME and ACDA. Dr. Thomas Harris Dr. omas Harris was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Beta Eta Chapter at Western Michigan University in November. Dr. Harris started in 1999 at the Armed Forces School of Music, where he earned his Musician's Basic Course diploma. He served in the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band (Okinawa, Japan) and Marine Forces Reserve Band (New Orleans, LA). He later earned his B.M. in Music Education at Michigan State University, a M.M. in Wind Conducting at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, and a Ph.D. in the Philosophy of Music Education at Florida State University. Dr. Harris served as Assistant Director of Bands at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA. In addition to his work with the bands at Kennesaw State, Harris also worked as guest conductor for the Georgia Brass Band during their NABBA Championship concert cycle. Harris started at Western Michigan University in the fall of 2019 as the Associate Director of Bands and Director of the Bronco Marching Band. He is also affiliated with the College Band Directors' National Association (CBDNA), Georgia Music Educators' Association (GMEA), and National Association for Music Education (NAf ME).
