Winter 2020 4 PAN PIPES GRACE NOTE D aryle Gardner-Bonneau, a former National Executive Board member, passed away on December 15, 2019 aer a brief illness. She was married to the late John Bonneau, an SAI Friend of the Arts, and they had one son, Nicholas. Daryle was initiated into the Gamma Upsilon Chapter at Morehead State University on April 8, 1972, where she carried a double major in music and psychology. She was an avid trombonist and continued to play aer completing her graduate work, serving as principal trombonist with the Kalamazoo College and Community Symphony Or- chestra. Daryle received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music/Psychology from Morehead State University and a Master of Arts in Experimental Psychology from e Ohio State University. Other educational pursuits included an M.A. in Brass Pedagogy, a Ph.D. in Human Performance (Psychology), and an M.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Daryle served on the psychology faculty at Kearney State College (1981-1986), and later on the industrial and systems engineering faculty at Ohio University (1986- 1989), aer which she moved into industry. She worked as a Senior Scientist for CTA Incorporated in Pleasantville, NJ (1989-1993) and then became the Director of the Office of Research at Michigan State University/Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies (1993-1999). She worked as a Principal in the consulting firm, Bonneau and Associ- ates, worked as a consultant for ergonomics, and served on several national standards boards, including the FDA and HFES (Human Factors and Ergonomics Society). Daryle affiliated with the Columbus, OH Alumnae Chapter during graduate school and then with the Kalamazoo Alumnae Chapter, where she served as president and treasurer. In 2000, she became the Alpha B Province Officer, serving until 2002 when she was appointed as National Treasurer. At the 2003 National Convention, Daryle was elected as NVP, Finance and served from 2003-2009. She was then appointed and served as Chairman of SAI Philanthropies, Inc. from 2009-2012. Fraternity honors re- ceived included the Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, Wreath of Achievement, and Ring of Excellence. Daryle's legacy in SAI continues to this day. As NVP, Finance, Daryle's vision of the National Alumnae Association now allows all of our members the opportunity to stay more closely connected to SAI throughout their lifetime and to continue to support SAI programs. We are grateful to Daryle for her outstanding service and dedication to our Fraternity. She will be sorely missed.
