distinguished members MEMBERS continued from page 21 Dr. Matthew B. Morris Dr. Matthew B. Morris was initiated as a National Arts Associate by the Sigma Beta Chapter in February. The Instructor of Bassoon/Music Theory at Ohio University, Dr. Morris previously held teaching positions at The University of Virginia, Valdosta State University, and Baylor University. Dr. Morris has appeared in numerous festivals, concert series, radio & television broadcasts, studio & commercial recordings, chamber music series, and orchestral performances in the United States and abroad, including appearances at Carnegie Hall, the Bolshoi Theater, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., and seven International Double Reed Society world premieres. He has presented Master Classes, conducted workshops, and served as an adjudicator on the junior high, senior high and college levels. In addition to his activities as a teacher and performer, Dr. Morris has created a number of arrangements for double reeds, saxophones and has served as producer and editor for compact disc recordings. He earned his Bachelor's in Music Theory from East Carolina University, his Master's in Bassoon Performance from Baylor University, and his Doctorate in Bassoon Performance from Florida State University. friend of the arts Greg Babal Professor Gregory Babal was initiated by the Eta Mu Chapter in April. He is a pianist and teacher at the Hartt School of music. He teaches collegiate class piano and gives private piano lessons, and he performs and gives clinics in the community. He has presented in the US, Poland and the Slovak Republic. He has also worked with under-privileged students at a Hartford music school. Professor Babal is a genuinely caring individual, and gives his support to all in SAI, the Hartt School and the larger community. He caters to his students' varying ability levels and encourages success by acknowledging their strengths. He makes his classes fun and rewarding, and he puts on ever-popular multipiano "monster concerts" annually! for schools, civic organizations, and other groups. He retired after a 30year career as Fine Arts Director at Tulsa Memorial High School where he directed concerts, Call musicals and other student performances including an appearance of his Show Choir at Carnegie Hall. His choirs toured North America and Europe. He is a board member for Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, fine arts consultant for area schools, and advisor for the Performing Arts Division of Tulsa Community College. Brian A. Britt Brian A. Britt was initiated by the Alpha Iota Chapter in January. His musical contributions include leading and directing the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band and Oklahoma University Symphonic Band and serving as Dean of Fine Arts for the Richardson (OK) School District. He was involved in many campus councils and is a longtime clinician and adjudicator for the University Interscholastic League. He serves as a great ambassador for music and is an uplifting and positive influence on those he encounters. Don F Dagenais . Don F. Dagenais was initiated by the Kansas City Alumnae Chapter in February.  Mr. Dagenais is known throughout the Midwest as a devotee of the arts, especially opera.  He speaks to numerous arts groups about Kansas City Lyric Opera productions and arranges trips to other opera venues  in this country and around the world.  Dagenais serves on many arts and community boards.  He is past president of Opera Volunteers International, representing over 10,000 volunteers in four countries.  He is a graduate of Grinnell College and Cornell University Law School. In his professional life, he is a leading real estate attorney with Lathrop and Gage Law Firm.  His articles have been published in national legal publications.  Dan Call Dan Call was initiated by the Tulsa Alumnae Chapter in April. He is Director of Music at University United Methodist Church where he leads the Chancel Choir and Weslyan Handbells. He and wife Cathy founded Tulsa Repertory Musicals in 2003 which produces performances 22 PAN PIPESSPRING 2013 sai-national.org Ken Goodenberger Ken Goodenberger was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Phoenix Alumnae Chapter in March. A prominent member of the musical scene in Phoenix for over 30 years, he is Director of Music at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church in Sun City West, and Artistic Director of the West Valley Chorale. He has been Music Goodenberger Director for six musicals in the last three years, winning an ariZoni for Beauty and the Beast at Theater Works. Ken directs and sings in the Royal Renaissance Singers and OperaTunity, which perform up to 100 concerts a year. He is a critically acclaimed singer, performing everything from sacred music to Broadway and opera with many Valley organizations, including the Phoenix Boys Choir and the Phoenix Symphony. He also maintains a private studio. Dr. Rebecca Meador Dr. Rebecca Meador was initiated by the Topeka Alumnae Chapter in April. She is a full professor of Flute and Music Theory at Washburn University in Topeka. She previously taught at Webster University, Jefferson College, Stephen F. Austin State University, and Earlham College. She earned her Bachelor's of Music Degree from the University of Missouri and her Master's and Doctorate at the University of Cincinnati.
