sai-national.org • Fall 2022 3 Jaielle Manning National Vice President, Collegiate Chapters Jaielle Manning was initiated into the Mu Gamma chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota at Hampton University in Hampton, VA where she studied Music Education with a concentration in voice. Aer receiving her bachelor degree, she went on to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching from Hampton University and an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Old Dominion University. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Administration and Supervision from Old Dominion University. During her undergraduate studies, Jaielle served as the Recording Secretary and Vice President, Ritual. Aer graduation, Jaielle affiliated with the Hampton Roads Alumnae Chapter and was elected as the Province Officer for Iota D. She also served on the Task Force for the Director of Diversity and Inclusion. Jaielle is currently an elementary music teacher in Fairfax County, VA. Prior to this position, she served as a high school music teacher and chair of the fine arts department with Suffolk Public Schools. Jaielle has a passion for creating opportunities for young people to get involved in the arts and works to find new, exciting experiences for them. Jaielle feels very passionately about Sigma Alpha Iota. She believes that if we all work together, we can continue to progress on the ideals and goals of this Fraternity and we can grow as an organization and individuals. Jaielle is humbled for the opportunity to serve Sigma Alpha Iota as the National Vice President, Collegiate Chapters. 2022 Natial Cvention Jessica Chichester, Ph.D. National President Jessica was initiated into SAI by the Sigma Omega chapter at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA where she majored in Biochemistry and played the Euphonium in the Symphonic Band. Jessica's service to SAI began as president of her collegiate chapter, for which she was awarded the Sword of Honor and Ruby Sword of Honor. Aer graduation, Jessica affiliated with the Selinsgrove Alumnae Chapter while pursuing her doctorate in Microbiology and Molecular Virology at omas Jefferson University. While in graduate school, she was elected Chi A Province Officer, a position she served in for six years. Jessica was then appointed Region VIII officer by the National President and was grateful to serve in this capacity for an additional six years. In 2014, Jessica was appointed the National Vice-President, Collegiate Chapters, a position that she held for 8 years. Most recently, Jessica was elected National President at the 2022 National Convention, a position that she is honored and humbled to hold. Jessica has been awarded the Rose of Honor, Wreath of Achievement, and the Ring of Excellence. She credits active leadership in SAI with allowing her to keep her passion for music alive in a career full of scientific experiments. Jessica currently lives in Glen Mills, PA and works for the Gene erapy Program at the University of Pennsylvania as Senior Director of the Immunology Core. She continues to play the Euphonium in community ensembles. Mary Frances Bushong, Ph.D. National Vice President, Alumnae Chapters Mary Frances is an initiate of Delta Phi Chapter at Mansfield University, where she served as Editor and Music Chair. She received her Bachelor's degree in Music Education, her Master's of Arts in Music Education from Rowan University, and a Ph.D. in Music Education from Temple University. Mary has been a member of the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter, where she served as President, VP Ritual, and VP Membership. She recently completed nine years serving as Chi A Province Officer. Additional service includes: serving on the 2018 Nominating Committee; Editor for the Collegiate Comments in Tempo! ; and being a member of the Summer Scholarship Selection Committee. She is the recipient of the Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, Rose of Dedication, and Wreath of Achievement. Currently, Mary Frances is an Elementary Band Director teaching beginning band in five elementary schools in the Washington Township School District, in Sewell, NJ. She plays euphonium and trombone in two community bands and sings in her church choir. is past spring, she got into cycling and tries to ride whenever she can.
