Fraternity Awards 2024 SIGMA ALPHA IOTA PAN PIPES FALL 2024 21 CATEGORY I ( 1-20 MEMBERS) EPSILON BETA Gettysburg College, Iota C, Region VIII Epsilon Beta hosted a benefit recital called "Harmonies Unveiled," featuring performances of music written by women and non-binary composers. The chapter made sign-ups available to everyone on campus: the only requirement was their piece had to have been written by a woman or non-binary individual. They also used this recital to raise money for SAI Philanthropies, Inc. They had a QR code so people could donate, and a violin case was open at the entrance for cash donations. E. JANE RUBY NATIONAL COLLEGIATE SERVICE PROJECT AWARDS IOTA ETA Indiana State University, Beta A, Region V The members of Iota Eta deep-cleaned the choir rehearsal room. While the janitors in the school of music clean the floor, the risers had not been properly cleaned in at least a decade. They used disinfectant wipes to clean all the chairs, swept and mopped the risers, and swept out beneath the risers. The school of music faculty was very excited about how clean the risers were. This marks the first year the National Collegiate Service Project Awards are named in memory of E. Jane Ruby. Her bequest to Sigma Alpha Iota was "to support the SAI Purpose and its ideals," a sentiment reflected in her own life. Jane was an initiate of the Pi chapter at Drake University in 1974, and was later a member of the Des Moines Alumnae Chapter. Jane also served as Xi B Province Officer, and was a recipient of the Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, Rose of Dedication, Diamond Sword of Honor, and Wreath of Achievement. Jane taught general and choral music for forty-two years and was member of several music organizations, including Iowa Music Educators Association, the Treble Clef Music Club, and P.E.O. International. Additional honors include the IMEA Distinguished Service Award, Robert McCowen Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions to Choral Music, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Phi Kappa Phi.
