Leslie has been an active member of SAI since her initiation in Zeta Chapter in 1969. Her chapter presidents writes, "Leslie is a natural and true leader. She is intelligent, loyal, passionate about SAI and its ideals, detail oriented, and always there when needed. People respect and love her, and she always treats others with that same respect and friendliness." Leslie has held many leadership roles in the fraternity, beginning as Beta Province President/Officer (1987-1993), then on the National Executive Board as NVP-Ritual (1993-2003), to her current position as Treasurer of SAI Philanthropies, Inc. Her regional officer states, "Service to the fraternity is something that Leslie voluntarily and excitedly performs … She is an excellent role model to other SAI's, continuing her legacy by bringing in and guiding new members. When I think of the shining SAI's that I know, Leslie is at the top of the list. The chapter's nomination notes Janice's transparency in reporting the chapter's finances and comment on her ability to communicate the chapter's financial goals and communication. The chapter comments that Janice is "consistently a personable but dignified representative of the fraternity's values, reminding us of the important work that our dues allow the chapter to do." Most uniquely, the chapter comments on Janice's unfamiliarity with computers, but that she has been a leader in her willingness to work with others to learn about the internet, access the Officer Portal, and communicating via email.
