PAN PIPES FALL 2014 sAI-NATIONAL.ORg 40 david r. anderson David R. Anderson was initiated by the Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter in Septem- ber. Anderson is a recently retired violinist with the Mil- waukee Symphony Orchestra aer starting 38 years ago at age 20. He continues as a faculty member of the String Academy of Wisconsin where he has been instruct- ing young violinists since 1991. Anderson's dedi- cation to providing musical instruction to young people demonstrate his advocacy for music education as well as his commitment to his com- munity. He also has performed on the accordion in MSO Pops Concerts with Doc Severinsen. joseph baunoch Dr. Joseph Baunoch was initiated by the Kappa Beta Chapter in May. A bass, he served as an apprentice artist with Toledo Opera and Dicapo Opera eater. He has performed in over 50 different operas and over 30 opera roles such as the title role in Gianni Schicchi, Dr. Bartolo and Figaro in e Marriage of Figaro, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Don Magnifico in Cinderella, Colline in La Boheme, Timur in Turandot, and the Secret Police Agent in e Consul. He has covered Dr. Dulcamara in L'Elisir D'Amore, Frank Murrant in Street Scene, and the Old Doctor in Vanessa. He studied voice with Metropolitan Opera tenor Richard Fracker, David Okerlund, Ted Puffer, Spiro Malas, and Anne Perillo. Dr. Baunoch received his Bachelor's in Voice Per- formance from DePaul University, his Master's in Voice Performance from Bowling Green State University, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from Michigan State University in 2009. Michael blaney Michael Blaney was initiated by the Lafayette Alumnae Chapter in September. Blaney serves as Director of Orchestral Activities, conductor of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, and Instructor of Violin. He received his Bachelor's of Music Degree from the Peabody Conservatory and two Master's Degrees from the University of Michigan. His violin teachers include Paul Primus, Daniel Heifetz, Sylvia Rosenberg, and Paul Kantor. Blaney studied conducting with Fredrick Prausnitz and National Arts Associate Mariusz Smolij. He has given solo violin recitals in Colorado, Maryland, Michigan, Louisiana, Nebraska, West Virginia, and has been featured artist with several orchestras including the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. His summer activities include teaching at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan and performing at the Britt Music Festival in Oregon. rick bogard Dr. Rick Bogard was initiated by the Zeta Nu Chapter in January. Rick Bogard has been a member of the music faculty at the University of Texas at Arlington since 1990. ere, Dr. Bogard teaches studio trumpet, coaches chamber music, and serves as Chair of the Music Department. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Central Arkansas, a Master's in Trumpet Performance from Baylor University, and a Doctorate in Trumpet Performance from the University of North Texas. Bogard performs as Second Trumpet with the Dallas Opera Orchestra and served as Principal Trumpet of the orchestra during the 1993-94 season. He has recorded Mahler, Shostakovich, and Respighi on six CDs with the Dallas Symphony Orches- tra, and participated with the DSO in opening concerts of the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas. Bogard has been a member of the Arkan- sas Symphony Orchestra, the Waco Symphony Orchestra, and the Dallas Wind Symphony. He has performed with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Chamber Orchestra, and as trumpet soloist with the Texas Wind Symphony, the UTA Wind Ensemble and Concert Bands, and the UTA Symphony. james duane bolin Dr. James Duane Bolin was initiated by the Iota Beta Chapter in April 2013. Dr. Bolin is a Professor of History at Murray State University, teaching classes in American History, Kentucky History, and Sports History. His research interests center on Kentucky History and the history of the American South. Two of his books were published in 2000: Bossism and Reform in a Southern City: Lexington, Kentucky, 1880-1940 (Lexington: Uni- versity Press of Kentucky, 2000) and Kentucky Baptists, 19252000: A Story of Cooperation (Brentwood and Nashville: Southern Baptist Historical Soci- ety and Fields Publishing, 2000). He has worked through the years to incorporate music in each of the classes he teaches. Dr. Bolin uses music in presentations and workshops. jason bombaugh Jason Bombaugh was initiated by the Delta Chi Chapter in April. Jason Bombaugh currently serves as the Academic Program Specialist and Office Administrator for the Herd of under (HOT) Athletic Bands at the University of South Florida. He joined the HOT staff in August 2009. His responsibilities include managing the finances of the Herd of under, facilitating the band's travel, maintaining the HOT website, and acting as the Liaison between the HOT Bands and the USF Athletics Department. Jason holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Florida Southern College. His primary instru- ments are French Horn and Voice. He taught in the public school system for five years, four of those at the high school level teaching Marching Band, Concert Band, Chorus, and Orchestra. bryan braue Bryan Braue was initiated by the Delta Chi in April. Bryan Braue is the Associate Director of Athletic Bands at the University of South Florida, a position he received immediately aer finishing his Master's in Conducting at the University of South Florida. One of Braue's strongest passions is the Herd of under Marching Band as well as the Rumble Pep Band. He has led the pep band on multiple trips and been a strong, encouraging director. He has also arranged many charts for the bands. Braue is a member of Phi Mu Alpha and is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi. Prior to his time at USF, Braue was a band direc- tor in Clearwater, FL. jenevieve Candler Jenevieve Candler was initiated by the Grand Rapids Alumnae Chapter in September. Candler has a long history of being involved in music in Grand Rapids. She holds a Bachelor's of Music Degree from Calvin College and a Bachelor's of Arts Degree from Kendall School of Art and Design. She has served on the Grand Rapids Symphony Board for nine years and is an active volunteer for the symphony. She holds the distinction of being the only char- ter member remaining in the Symphony Chorus for over 50 years.
